It will have been 16 days since we saw what football at the top end of things could look like by Arsenal, who made us look second class citizens in footballing terms.

This game is unusual this season, in so far as the bookies have us down as favourites to win.  Monday nigth, under the lights....but how empty will the bowl be.  With a boycott planned, kids for a quid, general sale tickets up for cheap, and Nuno's first home game, the atmosphere and attendance is anyone's guess.

Injuries wise, our Big Fucking German is big fucking injured again...reducing the options up front to the two Callum's.  Nuno chose to save ~86k in wages last time out, preferring the pace and mobility of Marshall over Wilson, and it will be interesting to see if he does the same thing here, or goes for a 'makeshift' centreforward.  And of course Soucek is back.

Other than that, there are no fresh concerns reported going into the weekend.

Predicted Starting Lineup:
Areola

Wan Bissaka   Mavropanos    Kilman    Diouf

Magassa

Fernandes             Soucek       Paqueta       Summerville

Bowen (c)
Subs: Hermansen, KWP, Igor, Potts, Guilherme, Marshall, Rodriguez, Wilson, Scarles

Predicted Score: 1-0 (Soucek)

Bit of a nutty Line-up. Interesting to say the least.

Really not sure about continuing with no Wilson up top or even Marshall for that matter whilst the caethorse is out foe a while yet. Really would have expected Wilson to start by now.

Come on you fucking Irons!

Souceks decline both on international and club level says we will keep picking more balls from our own net than anything else. He can't, and won't start.

Because apart from really Bowen we struggle to score and needs must especially when we are down there. So I can see why he could be used as a genuine goal threat alone.
A Brentford bloke in the pub told me they are  on the same points total as they were at this stage last season and he thought they hadn't missed the departed players or manager as much as they thought they had.

It's early days though and hopefully they will begin to falter tomorrow night as we step up on what we have seen so far this season.

We need to cut out the errors at the back do the basics and let the flair players use the ball and their skill to damage teams.

Regardless of who is there or boycotting tomorrow night s win under the lights would be a a welcome boost to us all.

How can anyone suggest Soucek into the lineup? He shouldn't be even close to a starting position, and would also rather see Paqueta on the bench too.
Summerville and Bowen has to play on the wings, and the midfield trio of Fernandes, Magassa and Potts should be enough to both protect our cunts at the back, but also helping our forwards going forward.

As for the striker position, I would go for Marshall. Give him all the time he can get. We will need it in the championship later on...

Fullkrug, Wilson, Soucek, Paqueta won't be here next season anyway, so good riddance to the lot.

We should really win this one. As has been said, the heart of their team has gone along with a very good manager. If we fail to win this it will raise some serious questions regarding our ability to survive in this league.

Having thought about this a bit more. I'm going for a bit of a change especially in midfield. So
Areola
AWB Mavraponas Kilman Diuof
Potts Soucek
Bowen Paqueta Summerville
Marshall.
Soucek can block and stop the Brentford attacks pass to Potts who is quicker to pass it on and forward than Magassa or Fernandes. Paqueta lucky to start i could have gone for Fernandes instead . Marshall is a more attacking option than having Bowen or Paqueta upfront, that's negative.Let's see what Marshall can do from the start. We should have more of the ball and Brentford will go long especially with throw ins. We need Soucek's height at both ends. It's his type of game.

Mbuemo, Wissa, Keeper Flekken and their Captain Norgaard. That's the spine of their well organised experienced Team taking out of it, as well as a decent Manager Frank. That's a big ask for any Team to manage so much disruption all at once in just 1 Summer after finishing 10th.

Was expecting Brentford to really struggle losing Frank & selling Wissa & Mbeumo but they are still a better organised awkward team
Hopefully Nuno having two weeks to work with the central defenders even if AWB & Diouf were away might pay dividends
We will need Summerville & Bowen to cause problems
Have no idea what to expect but hope he sticks to some pace & movement in midfield

Fucking hell, I've just looked up their Team in the last match and they have that geriatric money grabber Henderson at the heart of their Midfield! 😂

Their Team and Staff has had the guts ripped out of it this Summer. You'd expect them to be in a relegation battle come the end of the season with that kind of surgery to it. Keith Andrews is also vastly inexperienced thrown in at the deep end in the Premier League.

Im pessimistic at the best of times but just cannot see Nuno turning us around this quickly. We wont be as leaky in defence and set pieces should hopefully be defended better but our squad is still paper thin in most areas. Relying on youth is risky but we need the likes of Potts, Marshall and recent young imports like Magassa, Diouf and Fernandes to really compete and be effective.  It would be great if it could happen but no certainty imo.

Brentford game is early in Nuno’s tenure and we cannot buy a win at home.  I fear a 0-1 defeat awaits and the relegation cloud growing darker

I'm expecting Nuno to really target games like this, and for the team to come out fast, pressing from the off, really get at them. The opposite of Arsenal away.

I fancy us quite strongly, 3-0

Areola
KWP Mavro Kilman Diouf
Fernandes Magassa Paqueta
Bowen Wilson Summerville

Really hoping not to see Soucek back for this one. For me he represents the past and was a major factor in what was a failing midfield.
I don't mind which of the Callums starts, but either way, I would hope the other one gets a good half hour.

we desperately need a victory to steady the ship or at least delay its sinking. I think (hope) we see our best 11 and at least a turn around in the performance that suggests we can get out of this mess.

Optimistic narrow 2-1 victory

Its still far too early imo to be predicting a victory at home. Great to see less doom and gloom but 56% saying we will win is mostly good intentioned blind faith and nothing more. Its true we have started defending better ( esp set pieces ) but there is still imo a problem in central midfield. Added to that we dont have a quality central striker. Marshall is a kid who may or maynot be Prem Lge quality eventually and Wilson is a player 5 years past his best.

Paqueta and Fernandes should be switched ( again imo ) with Fernandes the advanced of the two as a no 10
and Paqueta deeper at no 8.

A draw is as good as it gets imo and I wouldnt be durprised if we suffer a narrow defeat. Nuno has a real challenge taking on a real mess of a squad left by the previous 3 managers. And working for an owner and control freak like Sullivan will add to the challenge.

Im looking for more “green shoots”. A victory would be most welcome and needed but I think even a decemt manager like Nuno will need longer than he yhinks to turn West Ham around
