"Soucek and Coufal are nto natural footballers, but both are great athletes and have faultless spirit and fight. I've noticed the last few games that Soucek's touch and passing has been much improved, and Coufal has massively improved his product going forward. Still very questionable whether they are good enough at this level, but both played well yesterday and Soucek's goal was superb."

The criticism he's received at times has been justified but you can't deny that against Brentford he was superb and yesterday he scored a very good goal. Hopefully he can keep this form going into the remaining games of the season.

He had his best game in the last 3 years against Brentford. And popped up with a goal late on yesterday. Moyes obviously loves him as a player which was obvious to everyone yesterday.

"Alf - yes, he can be anonymous in games at times, but no denying he is effective in either box, he also contributes with goals, some timely. 9 so far this season in all competitions."

"Soucek should not play in a team who try to keep possession and play out from the back and through the press/lines etc. He is suited to the low block if he is in a defensive role and we are having to camp deep in our own half and defending set pieces, crosses etc He also does seem to time runs into the box well and especially as games get stretched or teams that allow us to counter. Generally he has been awful on the ball and his pace not suited to trying to keep possession. But the last 2 games he’s been hard to fault as bias as I want to be :-). You have to gove him credit in these last 2 appearances and perhaps with Phillips now meaning one of him, JWP or Phillips will be benched, hes responded positively. His and Coufals attitudes and commitment never in question but longer term need to be upgraded as starters if we want to progress to play with the ball and have a chance of doing even better in the league etc. Of course, other positions need upgrading too ad part of a squad overhaul if and when Moyes goes. Soucek should only be an impact sub later in games if we do transtion to keep the ball better. I suspect tho that he and Coufal, approaching 30, wpuld not be prepared to be squad men should Moyes move on"

A far more productive season goals wise than last and long may it continue. Both him and Vlad seem proper stand up fellas who would run through brick walls for us and are probably a managers dream with their attitude but its just ability that is questionable at times.

Should potato salad be made obligatory for all West Ham players? Or just for midfielders?

Problem with him is like Andy Carroll was he is a threat in both boxes but does little else when the team is camped on the edge of their own area so his form depends very much on how we play. Right now though JWP and Phillips aren't exactly setting the world alight so understand why Moyes plays him but he is certainly better when we actually have a go.

I didn’t see the game yesterday and I haven’t watched the highlights yet but the commentary that I was listening to described one of Tomas’s passes as ‘sublime’.

Has there ever been a player who has scored more injury time winners for West Ham? None come to mind

"Worth noting he's now in 12 goals in all competitions, and has scored 4 injury time winners. Has Moyes stubbornness in playing him actually played off, anyone still convinced he shouldn't be in the first 11?"

COOL HAND LUKE 4:23 Tue Jun 9 Re: Tomas Soucek That’ll get him in a Moyes side. I think Noble topped the league in that stat for a number of years.

Clubs with fans like gank end up playing Conference League because they don’t deserve servants like Noble.

We have a lob-sided squad lacking shape and balance. Soucek Rice Fornals is a good midfield...The latter is one of the best players we have - he shows flashes of quality but is sometimes overwhelmed in a disjointed team. If we sign another good DM he could play further forward behind the striker/s in the roaming role. If everyone is in the right place and their most comfortable positions that boy is gold. More than Lanzini or Anderson.

"If Mark ""never even had a bid in 20 years"" Noble is a West Ham starter then we fully deserve to be relegated."

"Justin P - a midfield trio of Rice, Noble and Soucek is a very strong one, with good backup in the shape of Fornals, Snodgrass and Lanzini. Haller, Bowen and Antonio up front and that's a good side. Not much backup for the front three though"

He actually gives us the luxury of rotating the line up for once.
