I'm with Peroni on this He behaved about as well as an ambitious footballer could. He commanded a massive fee His other interviews I believe he showed a genuine affection for our club. He obviously has to say he loves being at Arsenal now. Imagine if he said he went for the money and potential higher level challenge but his heart would always be at West Ham. There'd be hell to pay. He's OK I reckon. His behaviour can change this. If he scores against us and goes OTT or comes out with Lampad style shit he'll be dead to me. But as it stands no enmity beyond he plays for a rival who i want us to beat.

If he's on the bench a 10 second standing ovation followed by a reprise of 'you're not playing coz you're shit' would probably strike the right tone

"Of course it's tribal, but in my opinion, he behaved impeccably throughout his whole time at West Ham. Probably stayed a bit longer then he needed to if we're honest, especially considering who the manager is. I wouldn't want to play under Moyes. I reckon he has earned a pass from the tribal side of things. I actually want him to keep on improving, whilst Arsenal start losing. At most, he needs the piss-taken out of him for moving to a shit club, with an utter cսnt of a manager."

"Said nowhere to boo him. Anyway no mare here. I'm of the opinion that football is tribal and if u ain't with us then ur against us. We took him in and he fucked off. Ill be starting on his dad in my upper class lounge membership ?üòÇ?üòÇ?üòÇ?üòÇ I wish. Anyway, have u checked on ur boy Masuaku lately? Talking of mares...."

"Pentonville You're having a mare with this one. When we discussed it, I almost warned you you were coming across like that prick vexed. Sure enough, a few posts in, up he pops with the usual attention-seeking bollocks. Booing Rice would be ridiculous."

"If he plays, I just can‚Äôt see him scoring against us. Unless you fuckers boo the cսnt! Polite first clap and appreciation while he was here, then move on. Not the first, won‚Äôt be the last to do so. The fans have more class than that!"

"The way I see it, and not really fussed if anyone agrees or not... Could have left sooner. Gave us another year, £105m and a trophy. Don't blame him for wanting to leave and win something, having seen the likes of Kane win fuck all out of loyalty to Spurs. In the main he was a great role model at West Ham in his time, gave us everything but the club was miles behind him in ambition. No real issues with him and others have done allot worse and got a reasonable reception."

"Pee Wee wrote... Re: Please let's not fucking clap Rice. Rice was our best player and captained us winning a trophy - i'm grateful for that. He courted Arsenal while still playing for us... most on here would speak with other companies while under contract with another. Weird that you'd judge someone else differently. He tried his hardest for us every time he pulled the shirt on. For that reason, i'd find it more than a bit pathetic if he was booed and treated like some kind of judas. As a fan base that would make us look very small time. I'm embarrassed to be part of a fan base that would even think that. All of that said. He wanted to stop playing for us, he moved to a scummy team with possibly the worst fans in the world and I clapped and cheered him plenty while he was here. If I had a magic wand I would make everyone mute and site on their hands while he was announced or touched the ball. Complete and utter eery silence would show we aren't going to boo - but don't come back thinking you're some kind of hero. And with a bit of luck his leg will get broken between now and then Well I think he's der dirty cah."

If he comes over and claps at end of the game don't see any issue with polite clap back. In terms of him being booed or treated like Defoe or Ince wtf

Why are people saying Rice might not play? The game is 4 weeks away and he will probably be playing the weekend

No doubt the club will roll out the red carpet for when he returns.

"I have never clapped any returning player in all my time going over there, find it absolute fucking pathetic to be honest, akin to former players not celebrating if they score a goal. Regardless of your feelings towards him, he's the enemy when he plays against us. Saying that, I doubt he'll even be playing in this game."

"Not sure what he has done to deserve that. Having spent almost £200m before he left with his fee as well we should be looking at one of the best Hammers 11 ever, the fact we are not is to do with moyes. I am not missing him but think he did well for us."

"Polite ripple of applause, followed by treatment as an opposition player. The scale can easily be moved if goal celebrations are not muted and badges get kissed in front of us. I aint clapping someone with shit on their lips."
