5 Test series : India v England

Post Fauxstralian »

"All 4am starts in the UK 1st Test Jan 25-29 2nd Test Feb 2-6 3rd Test Feb 15-19 4th Test Feb 23-27 5th Test Mar 7-11 Harry Brook has gone home ,replaced by Dan Lawrence of Surrey Virat Kohli not available for first 2 Tests Indian coach Dravid reckons the First Test pitch might turn. No shit Sherlock England havent bothered with a warm up game presumably as they would be put on a green top against an attack of medium pacers"

Think they have finally realised Foakes is head and shoulders the best keeper and as good a batsman as the rest. Bairstow's 100th Test is likely to be his last when Brook returns in the summer and wouldnt be surprised if Anderson just hangs on for 11 more wickets to go past Warne on 708 and then calls it a day. There a few in the wings and maybe it will motivate Robinson to get properly fit

Foakes just needs 25 more runs to keep his aggregate score above fatty Bairstow and strengthen his case to keep the gloves when Brook returns in the summer

Australia beat NZ by 172 runs to retain the Chappell Chappell Trophy. 7 Test wins in a row against them and 1 defeat in 32 Tests over the last 30 years. Nathan Lyon with 10/108 goes past Courtney Walsh to 7th place on the Test wicket takers list with 527. McGrath ahead of him on 563 then Broad on 604 Will OBVIOUSLY be shooting at 605 The dead 5th Test in India starts at 4am this Thursday with India leading 3-1 100th Test for J Bairstow I believe

"Given the freak conditions in India its often hard to judge performances on a ploughed field which means you pick sides that you wouldnt field anywhere else in the world. Or get into a situations like this 4th innings where England give Anderson 3 (THREE) overs when trying to win a match. That said England got into decent positions (better than decent in Test 3) and then slid to defeat. Probably doesnt mean a lot for the upcoming summer and future series in PROPER conditions. In the summer you might/may see .. Foakes finally becoming the permanent keeper Bairstow making way for the returning Brook One of the younger spinners being given a run of Tests and Leach being jettisoned Someone having a word with Anderson .... almost at 700 and in sight of Warne's 708 and might be allowed to reach those before being tapped on the shoulder for Wood, Robinson and others to take over"

"Westside 1:49 Mon Feb 26 Re: 5 Test series : India v England we also won 7 sub continent tests in a row. Wheels only came off when we single handedly kept cricket moving during covid and had to rotate the team to give people time out of bubbles. Stark reality is that we failed to win the ashes at home, we have just lost 3-1 in India - which is exactly the same as the previous regime (although the failure to win the ashes at home was two regimes ago), and we're second from bottom in the world test championship. Not much has changed really."

At least with Foakes currently outscoring Bairstow on the tour it'll put paid to any discussion as to who should have the gloves and put fatty back in his box to concentrate on his batting

Think more of a case of India winning this rather than us throwing it away... what I saw of their second innings bowling it was superb... we fought to the end with a couple of very inexperienced front line spinners... really like Bashir.. seems to have a great temperment and really impressed with how he came across in his interview yesterday

England need something special tomorrow after letting India bang 40 off the target in 8 overs .... might even try giving Anderson a go with the new ball! MATTY .... You left Simon JONES off your list. Have you given up on him?
