Re: Daily Quiz anyone? New month of April thread
20 for me thanks Zico A year out tee shirt for the Nato question And not to be churlish given my good score but I don't think your answer to the World War II bombing question is necessarily correct. It would seem your answer was based on the IWM web page which suggests that Liverpool was the 2nd most bombed city. But that was in relation to the period of the Blitz which was in 1941 and not relating to the full period of WW2. I always thought Birmingham (and/or possibly ) Coventry were the second most bombed areas during WW2. However I couldn't find a definitive answer (to busy watching MoD) But did find something interesting that suggested that prorata on area and population Hull might have a claim Not after anymore points just dont want give anything to Liverpool!:) Be enough of that Saturday :(

Re: Daily Quiz anyone? New month of April thread
Great scores so far gents. Zeb yeah I remember my late dad telling me stories because he originally worked for the Treasury under Maggie and then for PWC. Think you got off at Farringdon for their offices and dad just knew the underground like the back of his hand. It's fascinating stuff as you say.
Re: Daily Quiz anyone? New month of April thread
21 today thanks zico. Jerry Springer being correct has made my day. There is lot of fascinating underground stuff in London including a couple of secret tube stations that you won't see on any map. When I worked for the MoD I had a good explore of the Main Building basements once when I had to get my pass renewed (that was in the basement). I saw the stairs carried on going down so went to have a nose around and found the emergency rooms (aka PINDAR). One room was a classic operations room with ranks of PCs and desks opposite a wall of screens. There is also a tunnel down there that links to the Houses of Parliament and runs under Whitehall linking the various Ministry buildings. Needless to say it is not signposted.

Re: Daily Quiz anyone? New month of April thread
"Got to say Zeb it was one of the most fascinating quizzes I have done as I don't live in London so most of the ""trivia"" was interesting to me. Could literally have done 100 questions but many would have been really hard. Such intriguing headlines such as - Many Stations are Built on Top of Mass Graves From the Plague. Five Underground Stations are Named after Pubs Angel, Royal Oak, Elephant & Castle, Manor House and Swiss Cottage stations were all named after popular pubs nearby, not the other way around. Many London Underground Stations are Haunted. There are 49 Disused ‘Ghost’ Stations in London. It's always made me nervous since that poor bloke was savaged in An American Werewolf in London!!"

"Sorry gents, Q20 has always got to be a tough one. For anyone who hasn't seen the old TV movie ""To Catch a Killer"" about John Wayne Gacy should see it. Brian Dennehy in the title role is terrifying. Not in the question but serial killer Rodney Alcala appeared on the US version of Blind Date back in 1978. He was picked as the date but the female contestant never went on the date because she had a bad feeling about him. Lucky girl!"
