I posted earlier and gave De Niro the edge but did not give an answer to who has a better body of work than those two. The competition is hot and several names come to mind but the differences between them all are minimal imho. Having said that for me there is one who stands out at being best of all and that is Meryl Streep.

They are both formerly superb actors who's careers have fallen off a cliff since the turn of the millennium (though Pacino did win an Emmy Award for 'Angels in America' in 2003). The Irishman was a real nadir for both of them and showed how much they (and Scorcese) had fallen. Awful, overly long, boring film which contained a ridiculous scene of a geriatric De Niro laying down a beating when pretending to be in his 30s (he could barely raise his leg) and Pacino doing his usual late-career over (ham)acting."

But I do think De Niro has been in the better films generally. De Niro has shown good range though, from nutter, to gangster, to comedy roles. Personally I think De Niro's best performance is in Cape Fear. Breath taking."
