"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

the browns gm must be bordering on mental, he trades out of the second pick, takes two RB1s in Judkins & Sampson, then drafts Dillon Gabriel in the 3rd round, and finishes taking Shadeur Sanders in the 5th. hahaha 😂

Humility goes a very long way. Even in the professional arena. Hopfully Sanders learns from this.?

SB, yes he's exactly what we've needed for a long time. I went through all the draft prospects weeks ago narrowing down the ones i'd want, and both our first couple of picks were on my list. adam peters also wanted WR tre harris, but the chargers got in there early. going to be an interesting final day, quite a few very good RBs still available and some bargains at WR. another takeaway from yesterday was the dallas cunts taking ezeiruaku, who many of the fan base thought we'd take. it's going to be a competitive division this year

Btw, TM, Amos looks a good CB.

You've had a decent draft so far. Putting a solid line around that magician Daniels and shoring up your backfield are shrewd moves.

Aaron Glenn is clearly taking a non-flashy approach to his first draft. OL, TE and CB with his first three picks.

All decent prospects, too. All three will start, I’m sure.

Happy with TE Mason Taylor out of LSU in Rnd2. Big, athletic lad who strikes a good balance between catching and blocking.

Also, the son of ex-Fish DE Jason Taylor.

I agree. It’s insane. He’s a second rounder - easily. And probably a late first rounder.

But, as you know, that weird draft groupthink takes hold some years, usually following a shite rumour.

I’m sure Sanders is problematic in the sense that he’s egotistical and a distraction (plus, all those preposterous hangers-on). But talent-wise, his potential is higher than this.

I’m glad the Jets passed on him high up. We’ve had too many distractions at QB in recent years with Rodgers and Wilson. But somebody should have taken him by now.

he's the reason Bo Nix was drafted so high, in Nix's final college year allowing just one sack. these sofa gms make me laugh. this lad isn't 22 until november, and we now have the successor to Tunsil and are stacked on the line. we really can take chances now, I wanted the RB Henderson but Josh makes more sense. there really is a lot of very good running backs that will be there all the way to the 7th round, also some good receivers. I'm hoping Landon Jackson is still there at 61, and don't rule out someone moving (maybe us) for Tre Hendrickson after they drafted Stewart

Well. Round one in the bag. And the Giants bag Carter & Dart. (Sounds like a Pub Chain.) Everyone seems to be happy.? This is New York after all. But the real meat and potatoes of the draft is tonight. With round 2&3.  The places that makes and breaks GM's.

another meltdown from sections of the skins fanbase. they seem to have forgotten they now have a generational talent at QB, and that protecting him is a far greater priority than hoping a possibly good defensive end works out

Loved that Aaron Glenn chose Membou partly because he’s the sort of character who likes being “coached”. No ego getting in the way of improvement.

On that basis, there was no way Sanders was going to the Jets in the first round! A good early sign for Glenn’s tenure.

Pleased with Membou at #7, especially as Mason Graham was already off the board. Graham has enormous potential on the D-line, but unfortunately he’s gone to the graveyard that is Cleveland. I feel for him!

Genuinely surprised to see Sanders fall out of te first round. He was over-rated, sure. And I didn’t want the Jets to waste a top seven pick on him. He wasn’t a top ten player. But he’s not THAT bad, and not THAT much of a cսnt.

He’s now a bargain as a 2nd rounder and I bet a lot of teams are thinking of trading up to get him. Basically, he’s going to get picked around where Geno Smith did when we drafted Geno - and he’s probably a better player than Geno was at the same age. You just have to deal with the circus that comes with Sanders.

There was a bit of draft groupthink going on yesterday: surprised that Pittsburgh passed on Deion’s lad.

For once, it’s somebody else’s problem, though: glad Glenn got his head down and avoided the shitshow. Membou is a strong choice. Now we just need to find a coach for the trenches and, maybe, we can move the ball!

was surprised we didn't trade back but happy with OT Josh Conerly. clearly the injury doubts on players like Will Johnson were legitimate.

from a draft profile about Josh.......

"Josh Conerly Jr.'s path to becoming an elite offensive tackle prospect reads like a player development dream. A gifted multi-sport athlete at Rainier Beach High School, Conerly began his high school career as a running back before transitioning to offensive line as a sophomore – a move that would ultimately lead him to becoming the nation's top-ranked offensive tackle recruit and winner of the prestigious Anthony Muñoz Award as the country's best high school lineman.

After fielding offers from nearly every blue-blood program in the country, the five-star prospect chose Oregon, where his development has been meteoric. While he cut his teeth as a freshman in 2022 playing 118 offensive snaps primarily as a sixth offensive lineman in jumbo packages (even catching a touchdown), Conerly seized the starting left tackle job in 2023 and never looked back. His sophomore campaign saw him allow just one sack across 540 pass-blocking snaps, earning All-Pac-12 honorable mention honors while helping quarterback Bo Nix to a conference Player of the Year season.

The 2024 season marked Conerly's arrival as an elite pass protector, as he anchored Oregon's offensive line during their undefeated regular season run to the College Football Playoff. The 6'4", 315-pound tackle emerged as one of college football's premier blindside protectors while showing steady improvement in the run game. His First-Team All-American campaign, highlighted by surrendering just nine total pressures all season, convinced him to forego his remaining eligibility and declare for the 2025 NFL Draft. "

Here we are folks. D Day in the NFL. Big Blue will take Hunter or Carter. (Who ever left.) They ain't trading out of that pick. But don't be surprised if they move back up into the first rd after Pittsburgh take Sanders. Syracuse. Kyle McCord would be my guess.? Either way. It's the one day of the Year every NFL fan get's too hope. So good luck to everyone else.

Forgive the Jets focus on a draft affecting everybody, but I reckon we have one of three options for the #7 pick and I'd be very surprised if it wasn't one of the following...
  • Armand Membou (RT) from Missouri: nailed on NFL starter who would fill a huge need on the offensive line. Would be considered a "boring" pick by many fans, but you can't win games if you can't block for your QB and RBs, and we were diabolical in the trenches last season.
  • Mason Graham (DT) from Michigan. Kick-ass DT with a huge engine. Low centre of gravity, good speed burst for a big guy, stronger than he looks and a relentless tackler. Couple of technical flaws - but nothing that can't be ironed out. This is probably the pick that Jets fans who will attend the draft want - so expect the traditional boos if he's still on the board and we don't pick him.
  • Tyler Warren (TE) from Penn State: hat-tip to TM on this one, as he got me watching more of Warren's game footage and movement. The more I see of this kid, the better he looks. Runs tight routes under pressure (often double-teamed) and still finds ways to get open. Ball hawk. Good hands and a half-decent blocker already.
I'd be happy with any one of those three. There's chatter about Deion's kid dropping down the board and maybe even falling to the Jets at #7, but I can't see that happening. If it does, we might even trade out for extra picks and then come back up the board (spending less) to take one of the three above, as Glenn wants to see what Fields can do at QB for a year.
