The new presenter will probably have to tick a lot of boxes these days.
So fuck knows who he, she or it will be.

I hardly ever watch it, and I do believe that the role of presenter is grossly overrated. But out of the obvious names mentioned, I would probably give it to Gabby Logan. I do quite like Micah Richards, but as a giggling panellist rather than presenter.

My opinion doesn’t really matter though because I couldn’t really give a shit.

I really don't like Dalglish, find her very irritating and strange to look at too.

If we have a good game (very rare these days). I'll watch it on iplayer and skip the waffle between matches.

That won't change.

I watch every one of our games live on my pirate system so rarely watch MOTD. I do automatically record it though and very occasionally skim through games. I always FF through the intro and chat so, really don't care who hosts the programme or "analyses the games"..

I bet Jermaine Jenas is still kicking himself, as it was blatant the BBC had him lined up.

Not that I watch it, but it's a bullet dodged.

The idea in 25 years that no one else could present a cull footy show for £100 K is absurd.
Tge bbc needs to get a one legged Trans lesbian rugby player to front it from Russia.

His agent is decent enough. Known to be a bit of a cսnt but has built a formidable business, however his work with all his other journeymen charges pails into insignificance alongside his work with jug ears and of course he helped him build Goalhanger into a very big podcast creator.

Lineker is unquestionably an arrogant fucker with wandering eyes but like many others (Davina McCall for eg) he has benefitted from the powers that be lazily assuming he is more popular than he actually is. The  world of celebrity is full of them

They’d never ask Gazza. Too risky.
Ag ag ag ag, I'd love it, just love it if Gazza got the job, of course it won't happen but the ratings would go through the roof if he did.

Fauxstralian wrote: 12 Nov 2024, 05:00 You have to say his agent is a genius having him in that job for 25 years and at that salary.
The host should be on there to bring the best out of the pundits & keep out of the way.
Have always said Gabby Yorath (I don’t regard marriage to a rugby player as anything more than providing a beard) is far superior , very professional & would probably do it for a tenth of his ludicrous fee.
Jenas was/is a dismal cսnt & I find ‘Chappers’ too blokey with his matey ‘banter’
Alternatively they could bin all the pundits & just have an off screen voice over person introduce the highlights
Look at you with all the answers as usual. His agent is a genius because you say so. Why did BT Sports hire him for their CL coverage if he's so shit, among other broadcasters? Personally, I think Lineker is a good presenter, and no doubt do many others, overpaid, yes, but just compare him to that car crash Pugwash on the other side.

If anything was learnt from last week US election was that the main stream media is dying. Lineker been milking it for many a moon now. The money is elsewhere for him. The BBC will slowly clear out a few of the dinosaurs. And say it’s saving the tax payer some wedge.

Jermaine Jenas was going to be taking over, but then he let his hard on get the better of him and that threw a spanner in the works.  Chappers has been considered but he's not popular amongst women as he's too blokey and 'a bit scruffy'.

The word is that they're going to go with guest presenters, including the odd comedian or actor, such as Joe Wilkinson, Danny Dyer and Stephen Mangan.  Also You Tube personalities, to attract a younger audience.

They see Linekers' departure as the perfect time to 'reinvent' MOTD.
