Saturday football

EVERTON vs MANCHESTER UNITED (1230)
The media have already started getting all excited over this, and specifically over David Moyes. Remember him? One point separates the two sides, and who’d have thought that just a few weeks/months ago? Should be a tight and decent game. Draw.

BOURNEMOUTH vs WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS (1500)
The Cherries are within spitting distance (take my word for it) of a Champions League finish while Wolves are within similar distance of an unwanted bottom three spot. Momentum, form and home advantage together point to just one possible outcome. Home win.

ARSENAL vs WEST HAM UNITED (1500)
Don’t know what to say. Paqueta’s joined the non-walking wounded. There’s a stronger sense of by how many than of who. You figure out the rest. Home win.Image

FULHAM vs CRSYTAL PALACE (1500)
Two consecutive wins have put Fulham back on course for now, although Palace can point to three wins in their last six so they’re unlikely to be pushovers. Tight but probably inevitable. Home win.

IPSWICH TOWN vs TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR (1500)
Spurs’ last win at Portman Road saw Jurgen Klinsmann score twice in a 3-1 victory. The visitors must be yearning for another Klinsmann to boost their flagging campaign. Away win.

SOUTHAMPTON vs BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION (1500)
It must be excruciatingly painful being a Saints supporter these days. There’s really no way to talk up their prospects against any opposition, so let’s just say it as it is. Away win.

ASTON VILLA vs CHELSEA (1730)
Probably the game of the day. It’s been six games since Villa last won a league fixture and this one offers little in the way of hope to remedy that. The visitors have won two, drawn two and lost two in the same period. Hmm. Draw.

SUNDAY

NEWCASTLE UNITED vs NOTTINGHAM FOREST (1400)
Home advantage will tip the balance even against high-flying Forest. Just. Home win.

MANCHESTER CITY vs LIVERPOOL (1630)
The game of the weekend. There’s little to add. Away win.

TUESDAY

BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION vs BOURNEMOUTH (1930)
The south coast is busy. Draw.

CRYSTAL PALACE vs ASTON VILLA (1930)
Hmm, there’s little on form to distinguish these two. Draw.

WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS vs FULHAM (1930)
Wolves’ main concern is what lies beneath, lest it be them. Fulham are in the happier position of having to focus on what’s above. Away win.

CHELSEA vs SOUTHAMPTON (2015)
Oh dear. Home win.

WEDNESDAY

BRENTFORD vs EVERTON (1930)
Home win.

MANCHESTER UNITED vs IPSWICH TOWN (1930)
Home win.

NOTTINGHAM FOREST vs ARSENAL (1930)
Tight one. Away win.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs MANCHESTER CITY (1930)
Away win.

LIVERPOOL vs NEWCASTLE UNITED (2015)
Home win.

THURSDAY

WEST HAM UNITED vs LEICESTER CITY (2000)
Home win.Image

They've gone through enough good managers in quick succession that it appears the problem doesn't lay there, there's something deeper wrong with the core of the club, bit like Tottenham, I almost feel sorry for them.
Yea it's a real sorry state there, talk that Ratcliffe is clueless. There's no point in sacking Amorin.

And why is Rooney having a go at Amorin for saying they want' to win the league, what is he meant to say?

Fair play to the 1200 Brighton fans who made the bastard of a trip to Newcastle even though the game was shown on terrestrial tele, great effort.

TBH, whomever the draw was for the QF it was going to produce what look like good games to watch, refreshing in many ways that the usual suspects who are generally stinking the comp out by this stage have all gone out, well apart from Man City!

Man City got Bournemouth away though who ran them ragged in the league game at the Vitality, so that makes it an interesting tie (along with their poor/inconsistent form) rather than the obvious City win you would expect most seasons.

Just a pity we aint still in it as I bet all these teams can see, that with those “big clubs” out early on, getting to the final is a real possibility far more than most other seasons so expect them all to throw everything at these games including the kitchen sink.

Two good games yesterday and as said a good QF line up.

Appreciate not everyone believes but for me scrapping replays the right call, would have been an anti climax had the Man Utd Fulham game ended 1-1.

No.

But it's a lot more plausible than finishing in a high enough league spot. They may only have to beat spursy in one of the rounds. Italian football is toilet at the moment.

I was just pointing out its more plausible than us who have the same league points. So hold off on the rejoicing for the moment.

They have a good chance of being in the champions league next season. Keep up.
Go on, walk me through it then? Because I don't understand this new format they've got now?
Win a poor Europa League and they make the CL next season.

Realistically, aguerd and real sociedad might knock them out of last 16 tie.
😉

Amorim saying post match. “There goal is to win the Premiership.!”

Blimey. Can’t argue with a confident man.

Like to see Brighton or Fulham win it but any one other than City will be good for the game.

Good to see Brighton and Fulham, Bournemouth etc doing well in a season we are not. At least they are one of the 14 “others” ( us ) not one of the darling 5 or 6 rich clubs that got a huge advantage via money in the early years of the Premier league which now FFP and PSR protects. Any club that disrupts the cartel of 5 clubs winning everything is welcome.

Im hopeful Spurs and the Mancs troubles will be much harder to correct as they cannot just use their extra revenues to throw money at it. So obviously we need to see them knocked out of Europe too asap. Chelsea will probably win the conference though especially as teams that are knocked out of the Europa dont drop down into it like when we won it? At least I thought I read that?

Will be happy for any team other than Manc teams, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs ( not that they win anything ) to win the FA cup.

Liverpool
Arsenal
Chelsea
Man Utd
Tottenham
Newcastle.

Really good of the sponsers to insist that this year's final must not include 2 clubs from the 'big six'.

I say this only because this year's competition should put to bed all the claims that the whole thing is bent in the favour if the 'glamour,' clubs.

Never been as wide open as this year going into the 1/4 final.
