Much better than the metropolitan wanky bar type places where you have to queue to pay £8 a pint (for some shit like Brewdog) and then have to pay to wash your hands after you've taken a piss.
You have definitely found your internet home as well then.

... and you wouldn't get a GUMBO in those types of bars either.
Isn't that right, joyo?

Lots of other reasons too of course, but for a new visitor this forum is the equivalent of walking into a miserable flat-roofed pub and all the resident derelicts turning around and telling you in unison to get the fuck out.
‘Stay for a drink Sir?’ Probably not.

That's a good point too, probably all traditional forums in this format have taking a massive dip in new users, younger people probably prefer the new forms of social media to get their info and interaction with other supporters

So many alternatives in all sorts of media don't help, people only have so much time. I've always liked the 'unsanitised' nature of this forum and those who take offence are free to leave. The people who do nothing but moan and continue to post are the most negative aspect for me. Go look for that much needed attention elsewhere or do what Manny and Sold0 did and fuck off.

Re: This place is DEAD these days
A victim of it's only cliquey nature in a way, was in it's prime 20 years ago but with all the in jokes, cliques, and confrontational nature I guess new posters felt a little confused or overwhelmed so didn't stay long, regular posters are always going to gradually decline for obvious reasons.
Good news is it doesn't have to be the end, new site, new start, there'll always be new people popping their heads in and it could gain traction

Re: This place is DEAD these days
All West ham related sites and channels are struggling at the moment. There are no games. There's no positive news and everyone is fucking sick to death of our useless fucking club that's run so badly it's actually starting to look like deliberate sabotage. People are fucking sick of West Ham and the idiots that have repeatedly turned an unlikely positive situation into an absolute shitshow through rank incompetence. People are getting off the hamster wheel and finding other shit to do until Sully falls off his perch (let's hope it's soon) and hopefully that fat cսnt Brady periahes in the same helicopter fireball. We have Graham fucking Potter football on a budget of peanuts next season. Let that fuckin sink in.
And you lot can fuck off too.

Talk about bringing the forum down.
Not to mention any new poster who has a difference of opinion to his he'll accuse of being from that mob and demanding they're banned..

What do people expect, and who do they expect to deliver what they want?

It’s a very depressing forum, full of Victor Meldrew types who find joy in nothing.

Give the COO threads a bit of time Stubbo.
At the moment its so untapped, it’s like having millions of pounds in crypto, only we’re stuck at the ‘recover wallet’ stage.

Re: This place is DEAD these days
Unfortunately the site has become somewhat niche.
Will pickup a bit if and when some West Ham hope arrives, but we're still reliant on a very small collective....and it didn't help that for years the old site started creaking at the seams/was largely non functional.
The real question is how to seek new blood? We're a bit 'League of Gentlemen' these days...."a Local Pub for Local People"...hard to break into, somewhat unwelcoming, and a forum's attractiveness is only as enticing as the discussion and activity within it.
We can spend some money, run some ads etc to try and attract a new influx, but ultimately what is the site's sell vs. KUMB, Reddit forums, and Facebook groups (which are the real competition for traditional text-based communities) and more widely compared to the myriad of YouTube and Patreon channels where the majority of West Ham content is created/consumed these days?
Fundamentally, it only gets better if more people create and contribute.
219 users logged in the last 3 days....how many posted or created a thread?!

Re: This place is DEAD these days
It is a lot quieter these days, the night shift is all but dead, especially after Manny had his meltdown
No football on really as well, so not like there is much to talk about in regard to that
The club world cup thing is a bit Meh and we all know that realistically we won't be doing much on transfers until nearer deadline time, it's just the West Ham way!!! so does make the site quieter.
At a guess a hardcore still here but how many is that 40,50 perhaps? Most have been here years i bet
, a few new usernames but suspect some if not most are just reincarnations, doubt Ferret and his Lady friend are "new" to WHO or are Spurs fans TBH, just wind-up merchants after a bite and some attention, suspect both where active on the old site...............
I visit more through habit these days, being doing it for 25 years, can't teach and old dog new tricks and it still has its moments
and during the season a good place to get up to date with perspective of how we are doing from fellow fans even if it is a bit delusional from some at times
