Well in the post-Christmas haze, we gear up for a game that is absolutely massive.

The first of a run of 6 matches that will determine if we're in the fight to stay up, or prepping for the Championship, West Ham host Fulham in what really is a must win.

Whilst the visitors have had a poor start to the season, they're an established side that know what they're doing, have a manager who has firmly embedded his way of playing on the Club with an enviable attacking outlook, and they played us off the park in recent times.

West Ham no longer have Fullkrug for a selection option with his deal to Milan sewn up. Diouf and Wan Bissaka remains away at AFCON, but other than that there are no lingering injuries or selection issues, although Scarles was withdrawn in precaution in the last game.

Predicted LineUp.
Areola

KWP. Mavropanos. Todibo. Scarles

Magassa

Fernandes.  Paqueta

Bowen.           Wilson.       Summerville
Subs:Hermansen, Myers, Kilman, Potts, Rodriguez, Irving, Soucek, Earthy, Marshall

Predicted Result:

West Ham 2 - 1 Fulham
(Bowen, Paqueta pen)

A win feels a long time ago, and I don't expect this to be a pretty performance but more in hope than expectation think we'll scrape this over the line....more because of how desperately we need it.

COYI.

I fucking hate it over there.  I loved this club but I’m not going again.  The players don’t give a fuck so why should I?  Awful  experience before you watch the turgid football.   Then stand in the queue for the tube with people who don’t speak English who couldn’t give a fuck with their souvenir scarf.  Fuck that.
like others have said not one player in this team who has fuck all about them.  And our best player (according to his fellow native) diving and complaining the whole game sums us up.  Rotten to the core, literally

Big Sam anyone ?

Final throw of the dice offering hum a couple of million to keep us up or get us up again

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

I think playing championship football in that souless circus tent (25k in a 63k arena) would be farcical and we could drop even further down the pyramid.

If we struggle what are they going to do pay people to come and watch ?

It is a catastrophic situation in my view.

Gonna have to be a spectacular transfer window to even have a chance now. Nuno is a disgrace though, no striker at home to Fulham in a must win game. Shameful shit.

Didn't realise Fornals and Coifal were there today to watch the game. The irony of all ironies. Shouldn't have been sold when they were with more to give who gave their absolute all and cared. Sums it all right up.

I thought Magassa was our best player, Todibo decent and Potts. Fernandes and KWP did ok. That was about it.

Gutless pathetic cowards.

I dont know why i keep draggin my arse over there.

There's not a single player id be bothered about selling in January, and yes I include bowen in that.  The whole squad is pathetic.

We ARE going down and we need to start preparing for the drop.

Im so fed up with it all

More so the question is likely to be will the club want to  spend on a hopeless cause versus asset strip and equip for the championship?. Can’t see us being motivated to get fuck all off of Brighton if we couldn’t win today. This game really was a do or die moment in our season and we bottled it.

Down with the Christmas decorations!!

Agree with a lot of that FCJ

Focus towards the future but a 100 million loss in the accounts in Jan will mean there is no way we can spend our way back to the PL this time.

I might enjoy going again once the tourists are gone. On the subject of youth / u21s I woukd agree aside rrom Potts and I think Earthy too if he can avoid injury, there are not too many others. Mayers possibly as he is quick and strong and all the aforementioned should be up to the championship level.  Kante looks too clumsy and technically wanting but another whos physicality migyt be good enough for the championship. Fearon? Needs to grow or get stronger so a maybe and the other one I guess is the keeper ( Heygl?). We have to hope more than Potts can step up though as we are skint or tgats ehat Sullivan and co will say

Today, taking off Magassa made no sense. We shouldnt have lost but didnt deserve to win. Scarles needs to rotate with mayers until we can another LB and/ or Diouf returns.

I think he took off Magassa instead of Potts for Soucek simply because Potts generally plays more defensively. I dont think it was an energy thing. Whether thats evidence of Nuno being more Moyes than Ange is probably true.
But I think the game wasnt lost because of the numbers we have attacking. It was lost because most of our attackers are shit.

Absolutely terrible again. A typical side in the bottom 3. Offers very little, no leadership, poor management. The squad has no depth, the players in the first 11 are at most average.

We would be better using the transfer window to clear out the high earners and focus on getting a few players who can make us competitive next season. Personally I dont think much of our youth is good enough. Potts aside many of the others are league one players. Possibly Championship standard in a few years.
I know that's probably not a popular view.

We should sell Bowen now whilst he is worth something. He deserves to play at a high level in Europe and fight for an England spot. He has carried the scoring threat for too long on his own due to inept managers and recruitment.

I’m not sure why anyone was surprised by today result. We have a team that hasn’t won in ages, managed by a coach whose first instinct is not to lose.

Aside from the C&B specs I can’t see us winning games.

I'd seriously consider giving the job to Robson, Potts and the other coaches until the end of the season. At least we might see a bit of pride, and attacking football

We cannot make enough chances and not take enough if any of the few good ones we do make. Bowen doesnt score we lose it seems and we have 34 year old Callum Wilson whobis at least a yard slower than in his prime.

The Jan window wont save us. We need season changing signings but are 100 million in debt so wont be able to overpay for them which in reality you have to do in this window.

We would be better to incent Magassa, Fernandes and Diouf to stay by keeping their wages intact but Sullivan will panic and sell everything he can.

Today is the day I lost all faith in us having even a slim chance of us staying up.  With this game and the next three we had a real opportunity to go out and get some wins under our belts, but it had to start today. But now I believe we are well and truly fucked.
All these defeats will be killing the players morale and under NES, with his peculiar fondness for sending out the team sans striker, means I can’t see anything changing now. It’s pretty clear that under him we are one of the worst teams in the PL.
His record with us is atrocious so I’d say we’d have nothing to lose by getting shot of him immediately. And I know it would look embarrassing to be changing the manager yet again but right now I don’t fucking care. Just dump him and bring in someone for the rest of the season who might throw caution to the wind and have a right go at actually trying to win matches.
