Adama Traoré | Signed

West Ham United is pleased to confirm the signing of Spain international winger Adama Traoré.

The 30-year-old joins the Hammers from Fulham for an undisclosed fee, reuniting him with Head Coach Nuno Espírito Santo, who he worked under previously at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Strong, quick and able to create and score goals, Adama is a proven Premier League performer who will add experience and quality to Nuno’s attacking firepower.

Born in Barcelona, Adama came through Barça’s famed Academy before moving to the Premier League with Aston Villa in 2015. Since then, he has amassed 262 Premier League appearances, 14 goals and 25 assists for Villa, Middlesbrough, Wolves and Fulham.

“I’m so happy to be here, so happy to help the team the maximum I can and show my quality,” said Adama, who will wear the No17 shirt.

“I've been seeing West Ham for a long time. It's a massive club, a massive fanbase. I've been watching since I was young, when I watched a film about West Ham. I know about the fans and how much passion they have.

“My mentality is always to do better. It's always to improve as a player, to help the team as much as I can and I always say, if I'm the same person as yesterday, it's one day lost.

“I love the challenges. I think, of course, we have to go game by game. And this is what we're going to do, trying to do our best. I think everything comes from belief. And I believe we're going to achieve what we're looking for.”

Adama spent three of his best seasons with Nuno between 2018-21, twice helping Wolves finish seventh in the Premier League and reach the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals. The Hammers’ Head Coach is relishing the opportunity to link up with the winger again.

“We are very happy to welcome Adama to the Club,” said Nuno. “He is someone I obviously know well from our time together at Wolves, and I am looking forward to working with him again.

“Adama is someone who knows the Premier League very well, and his unique qualities as a player will help us between now and the end of the season.

“He will give us a different option in attacking areas. He is also very motivated to fight for us and ready to bring energy, commitment and determination to our challenge.”

Everyone at West Ham United would like to welcome Adama and his family to East London, and wish him every success for his career in Claret and Blue.

We can often do with an out ball or someone who can carry the ball up the pitch
When he gets in the final third he needs to wait for Bowen to catch up and take over for the actual scoring

I bet Sullivan won't stump up for all the baby oil though.

Bit of a free hit for everyone. If we stay up.? And then sign him to a three year deal. That’s the only concern here.!

Welcome to West Ham sir. Just put your shift in. And everyone will be fine and Dandy.

Positives - Low value. Low risk. Powerful and pacy. Very direct and will give us an outlet and get us up the pitch. Good option off the bench. Play's a counter style which aligns with Nuno.

Negatives - Not sure what form he is in. May have lost a yard of pace at age of 30. Not sure on fitness and injury status. May be well of f full match fitness as has only been used off the bench for Fulham this season.

It will be like having Antonio back, but without the goals.

Let's be honest, when he's coming on as sub for his debut, there will be a lot of excitement in the air from our fans ,and the opposition will be nervous.

He will help us get up the pitch later on in games, which is something we've really struggled with once Bowen and Jimmy tire. Getting in someone who can do that for a million quid in our position is decent business.

The cսnt's trolling us there, I might be warming to him....
They're probably mates from time together at Wolves, he would know he's struggling and giving him a verbal arm around the shoulder

Then after a few games they realised. Can't pass. Can't score. Thank fuck the rest of the team aren't like that.

That said, I reckon he'll do well for us, given how Nuno plays. We seem to have a real problem closing games out and having someone who can run the ball deep into the opposition half should at least ease up the pressure. I don't expect many direct goal involvements from him but he should at least be able to carry the ball quickly upfield in counter attacks and maybe play a short pass to one of our attackers from there.
As long as Nuno hasn't taken all the other attacking players off before he is introduced. Only Soucek arriving in the area 5 minutes later

Maybe he tells good jokes, or Traore likes going against him in training because Kilman is so shit it makes him look better than he is :)

We have TWO players who can hold the ball up now. Pablo is a battering ram who runs his nuts off; he needs a goal to settle in. The more balls we can put into the box, the better. Welcome to the emotional roller coaster that is West Ham Adama Traore

Haha, yeah at a rate of around 1 in 20.
I've added his stats for last season when he was regular for Fulham (18 starts, 18 as sub)...a direct goal invovlement every 86 mins.

If we can get THAT guy, he's well worth having.

Please show your workings as to how that equates to 86 minutes per goal involvement.

In the league, 2 goals and 7 assists in 1770 = 1 every 196 minutes.

Hope he does OK though
Yup my bad. Must have fat-fingered the calculator.

Either way...its not a terrible return at those rates.

I would not be shocked if he's starting games before Pablo before too long.
