"Good signing, we have no depth in this position and he's an upgrade on Soucek, Hopefully Alvarez doesn't get dropped. Let's be honest, Paqueta doesn't play from the left, that's just what the formation looks like, but he drifts inside and the width comes from Emerson. With Bielsa's disciple Philipps in the side, can we push up the pitch and be a bit more aggressive? I'm not getting my hopes up Mr Moyes"

"fraser 1:02 Fri Jan 26 Erm... because if we had an option to buy the price would be fixed now, based upon reputation, tainted by 380 minutes on the pitch this season. If he performs well enough for us to want him, not only is his fee likely to be higher but other clubs will be in the race, inevitably forcing the price higher still. Its not rocket science"

City must be swallowing a fair chunk of the wages if there’s no option to buy. Hoping for a bidding war come Summer. When most of Premiership will have much more wedge to spunk away.!

"I'm not too worried there is no option to buy. Have tried to get him before and he clearly wasn't interested but like Lingard a few years back a major International tournament is around the corner and he needs to play games. Like the Lingard deal if we can get a few good months out of him it will be good for us, after all he is a good player. Good for us and good for him. Things might change and he likes it here, but I just hope if he does a Lingard Moyes won't chase him all summer and ignore other potential signings,. Paqueta on the left, no issue, didn't do Alan Dev any harm when it came to dictating games from that position and Kudus, Bowen and Paqueta switching and roaming could cause teams many a problem. Just hope it is Soucek that makes way because Phillips, JWP and Alvarez with Bowen, Paqueta and Kudus ahead is an exciting prospect. The days of players desperatewly wanting to play for the club for years and years has gone, as long as deals suit both the players and Club that's all you can ask for."

Now that there is no option to buy clause in the deal I feel less excited about it. Just another temporary mercenary Lingard type deal

"Why do we need an optiob to buy? He'll be for sell in the summer and if we want to buy him and he wants to stay it will happen. How would having an option change that, I don't think it makes any difference.."

An expensive loan with no option to buy isn't a good deal IMO

Great that it’s done. Very disappointing no option to buy. Moyes has to be fucking careful how he treats Alvarez from now until the end of the season. Last thing we need is a pissed off Alvarez wanting out because he’s ridden the bench for five months while Phillips swans off to somewhere else in the summer.

"If indeed Philips is played with Alvarez, this will make perfect sense. Not least because we will be playing with the full deck for a change and it won’t matter so much if other players have duties out wide if they are more inclined to go central."

Nagel - Yeah maybe but we need a left sided option desperately and he's rapid.... I see no reason if given a chance and he's good enough why he can't force his way in.

"Kudus made a total of 12 starts in his first 2 seasons at Ajax. He didn't become a regular starter until about 18 months ago, when he was already 22. And he was going from a small league to a medium league. The leap Osman is making is much bigger. Would be a huge surprise to me if he became a regular for us this season, especially with Moyes in charge."

"Stowie - we can't stop Paqueta going there he has a release clause, so this probably has fuck all to do with it. He wouldn't have signed for us without it and as it stands we look to double our money in 2 years, it's hardly short sighted.."
