"We seem to have an England v Bosnia thread but not an actual Euro 2024 thread so here it is So, do we realistically think England can win it? On paper we obviously have a very talented squad but I just don't see us going all the way. For me it's ""same old"" when it comes to England. Breeze the group, favourable draw in last 16 and win then up against far superior opposition in the QFs and out. At best I can see us at the SF stage before being beaten again. Winners for me: France, Portugal, Spain Dark horses: Germany - even though it's a home tournament they've been in a consolidation period, could go close Biggest flops: Scotland - no goals scored Top goalscorer: Mbappe I'm just hoping it's a decent tournament with plenty of decent games that's not ruined by VAR (are they using it?) consolidation period but could go close"

"I'll be staying here continuing my constant moaning and contact diatribe (speaking of fuckwits, I was able to spell that without looking it up) about VAR now I know it annoys you."

"Nice to see the usual fuckwit retards get embarrassed and exposed on here yet again. We all know who they are. Now let’s hope We beat the Spaniards so we can all really rub it in. Goose, Collyrob, Nagel, Trundel tough guy Taki Mike, The usual whiny, negative fuckwits that stink up the threads with their constant moaning and constant Diatribe. Hopefully after Sunday they’ll all fuck off permanently. Although it is quite hilarious watching these idiots try to convince everyone that they have superior football knowledge to those of us that actually get it right. Oh and of course it’s a fucking penalty."

"Haven't they changed the rules on when VAR can intervene for a handball? So only if it's to give a penalty or if the player who scores has handled? Wasn't that why the ""basketball"" incident with Thilo Kehrer had to be ignored?"

"SurfaceAgentX2Zero 3:35 Thu Jul 11 If VAR did their job correctly then they wouldn't even be looking that that ""foul"". They'd be pulling Saka up for that blatant handball that lead to Kane's chance. You can't pick and choose when and how you want to use VAR. That's one of many issues I have with it."

"Lee Trundle 3:07 Thu Jul 11 ' No one was giving that before VAR took a look.' Correct. And that's what VAR is for. It's not like the ref ummed and aahed before giving it. He took one look at the footage, realised he had made a clear and obvious error, and gave the pen immediately."

"Manuel 2:36 Thu Jul 11 'The ball was closer to Kane, the defender had no chance of kicking the ball in the normal fashion, he couldn't reach, hence the attempted block.' Yes. We know that. But he still can't block in the way he did. Which was by studding Kane in the thigh. It's a foul."

"RootsRadical 3:02 Thu Jul 11 Re: Euro 2024 The penalty at Newcastle when Phillips was trying to clear the ball is a good precedent for the penalty being awarded last night. Actually, it's a precedent for it being given as a foul against Kane. Phillips was attempting to kick the ball and kicked Gordon"

"BillyJenningsBoots 2:48 Thu Jul 11 ""Blatant handball.... no one saw the handball until the slowmo video so why would anyone look at it..."" Exactly like the ""blatant"" penalty we had, you mean? No one was giving that before VAR took a look. I can look at that situation honestly, and if every rule was followed to the law, then that penalty isn't given. Just because I can see the whole picture, it doesn't make me weird. I'm glad we're in the final."

"Three things. Kane will start on Sunday. Hopefully Shaw starts as he's now had 90 mins of football,l whatever happens it's our final game, and even not fully match fit he's still a better option than Trippier. The penalty at Newcastle when Phillips was trying to clear the ball is a good precedent for the penalty being awarded last night."

"And you cant justify a studs up reckless challenge by saying what else could he do, well yes he couldnt kick it normally so he put his studs up where Kane foot was clearly going to be which couldve caused serious injury... that is dangerous or reckless and anywhere on the pitch its a foul. Why is it not a foul please explain..."

Trundle Blatant handball.... no one saw the handball until the slowmo video so why would anyone look at it... You are one weird man... looking for a reason for us not to score... you Scottish or something?

If both players were trying to kick the ball it might have been interpreted differently but one was kicking the ball and the other was attempting a block studs first. If it had happened in the English box we would have felt hard done by and the Dutch would have accepted the refs decision.

How would you challenge for a ball that’s bouncing without showing your studs?

"Think the penalty was onecof those that had it gone against us we'd have all been incandescent with rage. Was a long time coming but Koeman got a little bit of payback for what happened in the ' do I not like that' game. First half was great, why oh why couldn't this approach been adopted 3 weeks ago. Spain are very good but every team is beatable, maybe our name is on the thing. Finally, the Welsh, Irish, Jocks and Scousers can replace their Dutch flags with Spanish one."
