West Ham United is delighted to confirm the signing of England midfielder Kalvin Phillips on loan until the end of the 2023/24 season. The 28-year-old joins the Hammers from Manchester City and could make his debut in Thursday’s Premier League fixture with AFC Bournemouth at London Stadium.

"""Paqueta is going to be starting on the left"" Yeah, I think this pretty much confirms he's been relegated into that position. We'll probably have to wait until next summer when he's in a City shirt to see him back in the centre, sadly."

"Paqueta is going to be starting on the left unless Osman makes some brilliant sub appearances... Not really sure it matters what league he comes from.. If he's good enough and we're paying a decent chunk for him. Kudus went from there to Ajax under the same circumstances and was a sub but then got into the side and stayed there and look at him now If the same opportunity isn't there for Osman wtf is the point of signing him? If he can get in our best midfield 3 would be Alvarez, Phillips and Paqueta.. With the caveat that Phillips is the same player that City signed .. Then for me he's easily better than JWP."

Sydney_Iron 12:09 Fri Jan 26 I don't know. We're paying £20m for a 19 year old so I assume he's fucking decent. Chill out.

"IPhammer I’m embarrassed for you, moron. Signed, sealed and delivered. Alvarez, Phillips and JWP is a superb midfield and Bowen & Kudus are going to thrive on Philips long diagonal passes."

"Our transfer strategy seems odd at times We buy Kudus when we have got Bowen playing successfully in his favoured position. We don’t buy a striker as a result. Now we buy Phillips and can’t shoe horn him in without dropping Soucek, one of Moyes undroppable players."

"FFS, Osman won't start for months or even next season unless injury's force it and even then i wouldn't bank on it! he's 19 and from a B league, do you really think Moyes is going to start him anytime soon?"

WHU's TWITTER account has just released a man bun video. I think it's safe to say he's now signed.

"My concern is that Moyes will now try and squeeze JWP, Phillips, Alvarez and Paqueta into the team which will ultimately mean Paq being shifted out left again. But with this Osman coming in who is left attacker Paq has to be in the middle. For me that would mean Soucek on bench and a fight out between JWP and Phillips. My team from midfield would be: Osman--------------Bowen-------------Kudus JWP / Phillips----------------------Paqueta -----------------------Alvarez"

"Reckon Soucek will start as long as Moyes stays in this job. He’ll stay fit as well as every Tom, Dick and Jones (sic) knows he’s their biggest on-pitch asset."

"It's the end of Soucek as a guaranteed starter every game. It has to be. I have the Samaritans on speed dial just in case Moyes does the unthinkable though. Mind you. knowing the West Ham curse, Phillips will break down with a hamstring tear first game and back in comes old Potatoe Salad man. It is the one issue Phillips has. That old saying that injury prone players tend to get injured :-( Hopefully not but Soucek always to survive like the proverbial extra large turd you can't flush down the lav."

Manuel 7:15 Thu Jan 25 Hope so. I don't see him replacing JWP in the starting line up though as he has played more minutes than any player in the squad.
