Saltburn is one of the better movies made recently for sure. Sort of Brideshead Revisited meets The Talented Mr Ripley. Seems to be creating a lot of hype atm.

"Even though it's been recommended on here by a few in touch with your feminine side (i.e. under the thumb from your missus), I reckon I'll be giving Saltburn a miss. This review say it's a bumfest. Yours. https://twitter.com/AvonandsomerRob/status/1746633217203921305"

"Fair enough, Sold. Nowt wrong with watching a film over two days, I do that sometimes and suspect many do. At the opposite end, shall we say, of critical film making over the holiday I watched both Murder Mystery films with Adam Sandler and Anniston, both a good old laugh (romp)."

Yet I really enjoyed both of those Manny son... as far as I know they did not fabricate too much in the Manhattan project story and his life... saw it at the cinema and thought it was superb... regarding the story of whitey's knocking off oil rich Indians... yeah probably happened... have to admit I had to watch it over two days as was a lengthy bit of film making but I did enjoy it.

Bit of a geeky Napoleonic war freak... so when I heard the news a few years back that Ridley Scott had got his hands on Napoleon I thought excellent... what could go wrong... well after watching it last night... basically everything... why oh why do people have to fabricate and re-write history when the story is great enough as it is.. BBC do it (Rogue Heroes) to get their PC/Woke angle into it but no way should films like this be inaccurate at every single fucking angle... and don't get me on the Waterloo section..... oh and Mr Scott the `Well you wasn't there' argument you have thrown back at every historian does not wash.... oh and the shit between him and Josephine was boring as fuck.... where's David Lean and Spielberg when you need them...

"Northern Sold 12:37 Tue Jan 9 Imagine a deaf fart like me trying to lip read that, took my eyes and ears ten minutes to work out it was dubbed!! Stuck with the subtitles after that. Seriously yes in comparison Alive was very Hollywood but a very good film nonetheless but as you say this was a bit more thought provoking. Without adding any spoilers bloody hell they had some bad luck!"

zico 3:11 Fri Jan 5 Re: 2020 Movies (now including 2021 and 2022) Society of the Snow on Netflix about the 1972 airplane crash in the Andes. I can remember the 90s film Alive being good but this is an incredible film. How anyone survived is incredible. Watched it last night... with subtitles as the dubbing drove me mad... however apart from that was superbly done I thought and a lot better and more thought provoking than Alive... well worth a gander. Also watched a bit of an oldie the other night and forgot how good it was... The Sound of Metal... quite a performance from Riz Ahmed... as good as I have seen for a few years

"I thought The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent was weird but strangely enjoyable. Agree that The Rock, Con Air and Face/Off were all decent. Quite enjoyed the two National Treasure films to be honest although a poor man's Indiana Jones (first three of course!) but the Wicker Man was just an insult although would have been better marketed as a comedy ""Not the bees!!"""

The best film I've seen Cage in is Matchstick Men.

"If I find myself ever rewatching a movie, then I'd say it was decent. Cage has been in a few decent movies. I'd quite happily sit through and watch The Rock, Con Air and Face/Off, Kick Ass, amongst a few of the others mentioned below again. Maybe even Gone in 60 Seconds. The remake of The Wicker Man is up there with one of the worst movies I've ever seen, though."
