I'm not writing him off. I was just a bit more positive over him before I saw this season's highlights for him.
He seemed completely devoid of confidence.

We're not signing anyone, it feels like from reading between the lines here:West Ham boss Graham Potter confirmed that Jean-Clair Todibo won't be available for Sunday's match, and was also asked if he expects him to still be at the club after the transfer window: "Yes, absolutely. At this time of year there's a lot of speculation but we just have to ignore the noise, help the players and keep working."On potential incomings: "We have nothing to report about transfers. We're always looking - there are a lot of factors to consider, but this window is always complicated."If we're in a position to do business, we'd like to [sign a striker]. Our goal scoring in general is okay, but we'd like to do certain things better. We're a bit light but there are a lot of factors to consider."

Doesn't have to be from this country. We picked up Sakho from Ligue 2. I just wouldn't mind getting someone on the up for once. We just seem to be picking people up from the floor hoping they get to where they once were.
Bit early to be writing Brobbey off as a has-been, innit? He's 22 and scored 20 goals last season.
Maybe he's not doing well this season because Ajax have a new manager who seems to keep changing formations and personnel. Brobbey's only played more than 60 mins in the league a handful of times, which helps explain the drop off in goals. That and Farioli's tactics, which seem to be less about feeding the striker, but having him cause a bit of chaos and letting others into play, which is why he often plays Weghorst.

It’s basically Money Laundry. Get someone on “Mate Rates.” Through the door. Everyone gets a little bit extra. The plebs are quite until the next window. And if it goes tits up. Well. There’s always someone who can take the hit.!

I wish I hasn't seen this seasons highlights of Brobbey.
Looks like a rabbit in headlights for Ajax. Not sure coming here is the right place to build his confidence.
Why can't we get a player on the up even if it's from the lower leagues? It works. It worked with with Cresswell before he got old, it worked Bowen, it worked with Summerville, and it pretty much even worked out with Benrahma.
Just not sure who that is if you’re looking for a centre forward. Josh Maja and Latte Lath about the only options from the Championship. Not sure either are a better option than Brobbey. League One has a couple but that is a real step up.

I'd say at the moment more than a goalscorer, we need presence up front. Antonio scored very few goals but gave us that outlet, and have no doubt even if off form for goalscoring, Brobbey would be a powerful, massive handful that allowed the likes of Bowen and Kudus to play with less focus.
He's only 22, with Kudus here we have someone else of Ghanaian descent as well as Alvarez an ex-Ajaz colleague and Summerville of Dutch descent, which should help him settle (which it sounds like was a problem when he went to Leipzig as an Under 21).
Whilst he has had injuries, they've generally been short term, impact type injuries which is inevitable for player of his ilk, especially while still growing as a young player.
Unless the obligation fee is exorbitant by which I tend to think >£30m (and lets not forget £60m is pretty much the going rate for 'Premier League Proven'....think Solanke, Duran, no doubt Delap will be in that ball park) then somene like Brobbey has good potential upside, is physically suited and whilst not a sure thing we're simply not shopping in the 'sure thing' market.
The alternative is throwing similar money at someone like Muniz (who has less upside, but more proven league experience), or getting cheaper shit signings like Andre Silva.
On balance, Brobbey feels like the sort of player we should be looking to sign and rehabilitate the form of, relying on Potter's man management skills to bring the talent out of him.

another week goes by, another game where we are reliant on Danny Ings, the slowest midfield and the shittest back 4 outside the bottom 3.
absolute shit show once again.

Can I just say how very disappointed I am with this site.
Not one person has said that we are more likely to sign Mr Blobby than Mr Brobbey
Site, dogs etc etc
Well, Mad Ferret said he'd rather sign Mr Blobby...does that count?
Sadly I can’t read his messages so I missed out on that gem

We really are scraping the brrel here, one minute we're bidding £57 million ( I know, I don't believe it either), the next we're looking at a Bundesliga reserve that can't hit a cows arse with a banjo and just when it couldn't get any worse, we're now looking at striker from the Dutch league whose record this season is played 29, scored 3 and had 7 assists.
What will it take for our supporters to finally turn on Sullivan?
I think for us, we don’t have the money, the league position or the reputation to get a proven striker with the stats to match for this league. We need to actually look at the players style of play and work out if it fits how we want to play system wise. Then work out whether there were extenuating circumstances for the players current stats.
it’s all about finding “mispriced” assets for us. What can we add / do to fix the missing parts the player has. I think we as a club have completely dropped the ball on that approach over the last 5yrs.
That’s why I was wondering about Guilherme and our youth as well. Where is the development program or strategy to plug in the holes here and create quality players?
If we can’t do this as a club we will won’t survive in the long run as the fees and wages for proven players get higher and higher and our revenues get less and less because we don’t make the top 6/8 regularly.

What baffles me is how come Sullivans kids dont have their own agency. Missing a trick there. Really ring the club dry.

Tim has a great relationship with Ajax, send him out to Dam for one last hurrah, to smoke some marijuana and see if he can come back home with big lump striker who’s family are from Ghana.
Yup, we can do that, he cane get all the terms and a handshake, then Sullivan will demand to take the reigns, change the terms to something insulting to Ajax, deal falls through, Sullivan pleads poverty while at the same time blaming TS, rings his mates up at lunch on 3rd Feb and tells us all not to go to bed, we sign some 33 year old journeyman shitcunt who has never been a good player and is totally unsuited to how the manager wants to play on a 3 year deal for 100k a week with a lovely little backhander to said mate.

just looking at that reel made me think how incredible you could make antonio look on one.
in fact i do remember watching one when he came from forest and thought how good he looked.

Bit more to Brobbey than those stats. If you look beyond this season it’s far more impressive.
What we should turn on Sullivan and co for is the inability to get something done. This constant trying to loan and it become permanent subject to x,y,z clauses is pathetic.
I understand they want to review to striker situation more in the summer, but you need more than one. If this is a move that becomes permanent for (purely guesswork) £20-25m, just do it if you think he’s good enough. Even if he ended up becoming rotation for a new main striker in the summer, that’s probably the going rate.

Romano shared: “West Ham have made contact for [Brian] Brobbey deal with Ajax but no chance for straight loan move. Obligation to buy or permanent transfer needed to advance in negotiations, as Ajax have no plans to accept a loan.”

Based purely on the YouTube videos, he looks a very decent finisher. Strong and quick. Hard to compare the different leagues and styles of play, but Brobbey looks way better than the likes of Antonio, Ings and Fullkrug.
Now watch it be denied and us get Silva.
