Daily Quiz anyone?
"If you are stuck at home and bored like me. How about exercising the old grey cells? I have for a number of years run quiz nights and couple of times a year. I was due to do one tomorrow which is now cancelled So I have a bank of questions sitting in my computer's hard drive. They are quite eclectic in their nature. I am thinking I could put up a set of questions for which you write down your answers. After 30mins or so I will put up the answers. DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS. before I post the right answers. You mark your own answers and post your score. I will then record the scores and at the end of the ""lockdown"" we will see who is WHO's brainbox supreme. Obiviously no looking up the answers (you only cheat yourselves) Word of warning these won't be easy questions as they have been devised for teams of six. Forming teams on here might be too problematic. So I'll try to pick out the easier questions. Any interest?"

"Indeed, I'll give you a half for Pennsylvania Avenue, and for anyone else who got that. Will also give a half for just ""ampitheatre"" if anyone got that so just repost your scores if needed. Interesting stuff that rio. I did read that the Coliseum was built by Jewish slaves. Incredible place btw, just an awe inspiring visit when you see something with such history."

4. Plus a half if you are feeling generous for Pennsylvania Avenue without knowing the number.

"Zico The Flavian name was added later apparently (I had to check this). But I have the book 'The Jewish Chronicles' by Josephus Flavius, a famous Jewish writer and servant to the Emperor Flavius, its not his real name, he took a roman name after the Jews were vanquished and the temple destroyed (again). Its a very interesting book if you like that sort of thing. Written by a witness from the time."
Re: Daily Quiz anyone?
"Rio, I remembered it as I did Roman History at school but couldn't remember the reason why until I googled it. ""The Colosseum's original Latin name was Amphitheatrum Flavium, often anglicized as Flavian Amphitheatre. The building was constructed by emperors of the Flavian dynasty, following the reign of Nero. The name Colosseum is believed to be derived from a colossal statue of Nero that once stood nearby.!"

"Syd, Charlie I'd say if you got the right decade, that's close enough. To be honest, pinning the exact year down is contentious for some of these - Italy could be 1 of 2 years depending on how you define it. Similar with Germany."
