"Just finished The Killing liked it a lot but not really the last season as much. Breaking Bad, Homeland done Was going to do Luther or The Wire next - can you tell me which one is best of the two?"

"I'm coming to the end of The Killing, which has become a bit of a chore. I'm kind of forcing my way through it because I really enjoyed it earlier on. I think it's quite a good illustration of the problem with this format, ie maintaining quality over time. It's also reawakened a prejudice I have against female writers. A seeming obsession with the emotional and related ""issues"". Watching it has become a little like reading The Guardian recently: tiresome..."

"Watched the first episode of Power last night. Dreadful: really poor writing, dialogue and acting. The plot's wank and the basic premise is fanciful. My initial reaction was amazement that people still turn out such poor work in this day and age but I suppose, given the multitude of channels, media and seemingly infinite demand, they think they can get away with it. They even managed to use shit music, which really is some achievement."

I'm loving the librarians at the moment. Light hearted escapism that appeals to the nerd in me

Recommend Narcos on Netflix. Pablo Escobar biopic. Season 2 is currently being filmed. Quite excellent.

Camping is on Sky box sets. Really vicious humour and you can watch the whole thing in just under three hours. I once shared a house with a guy who combined the one whose wife is in a coma and the alcoholic who falls off the wagon.

"Hap and Leonard Set in the late 1980's, Hap and Leonard is a darkly comic swamp noir of two best friends, one femme fatale, a crew of washed up revolutionaries, a pair of murderous psycho killers, some lost loot, and the fuzz."

Takashi Miike 3:31 Thu Apr 21 Re: Tv Box sets thread again - recommendation pls im two series through Sons Of Anarchy and wondering if it's worth continuing with. it's enjoyable but the end of the last series with the white supremacists seemed far too easy and there were plot holes I gave up on it on season 3. It doesn't get better. Better Call Saul on the other hand ended superbly. I cannot wait for season 3 of it.

"Burned through the two series of 'Bosch' recently. Very decent LA detective stuff, found it went down particularly well when watched with a couple of Makers Marks, not too ground-breaking, nicely shot though, but I am definitely a lazy TV viewer. The geezer cast as Bosch was definitely a few years too old for the part though."

"And it's funny because for some reason I love the Calamity Jane musical with Doris Day and the Jane in Deadwood couldn't be anything further away from her - she's a bloody quite brilliant lunatic. After some research, I found that her, Wild Bill and Charlie Utter were exactly the same in real life as the show. I would have loved to live in those times!!!"

"Grumpster 3:02 Thu Apr 21 Who knew swearing in iambic pentameter could be so entertaining. Really upset they did not do a movie or something to finish it off. Although just looking it up, it might happen after all. “Those that doubt me, suck cock by choice.”"
