"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

"Not quite so, Crystal. He's still a fine DT. The only reason why he has not been as productive since 2016 is because every side in the league double-teamed him in 2017 and 2018, because they knew the Jets had little else to offer on that defensive line (until they drafted QW). So his ""production stats"" fell off a cliff. But he's still largely the same player. The Giants have got a bargain because our own stupid coaching staff have come in and probably only read the stats rather than assessed him properly. In the Spring, Jets fans were told the whole point of drafting Quinnen Williams was to give Len some support on the defensive line, and free him up a little. Now they've drafted him away for peanuts. Absolute idiots run the Jets at the moment. The Giants will have a strong front line now - LW alongside Big Snacks (another of our finds under Rex) is a daunting prospect for any centre."

"Life's great being a Dolphins fan, we've become that team that if they made the ""You Only Move Twice""ù episode of The Simpson's now Scorpio of the Globex Corporation would buy The Miami Dolphins for Homer at the end of the episode. ""Awwwwww, the Miami Dolphins""ù"

"Leonard Williams has never really come close to living up to his potential after he was billed as arguably the best player int he draft and the Jets drafted Quinnen Williams very high this year to presumably replace him. Leonard is int he last year of his deal i believe and wills till be demanding big money so to ship him out for anything in a lost season seems like a good move if they had no intent of signing him to a new contract. From what i read the Giants were the only team interested in trading for him which is why his value seems so low, the Jets had no leverage. What i don't really understand is why the Giants would make the trade, DT is the only decent spot on their defence with Snacks Harrison in there and they're going nowhere this year either so will; have him for half a year before trying to negotiating with a player hitting free agency who probably thinks he's worth alot more than he actually is. At least he only had to move all his stuff down the hall to another locker room ;)"

"""The Jets are severely testing the patience of their notoriously loyal fans - they've just traded Len Williams, a very fine DT and former #6 overall pick, to the Giants for two mid-round picks"" Sounds like the sort of move the Dave's used to specialise in as they did when selling the Footballer of the Year to Haringey"

"Fucking treachery! The Jets are severely testing the patience of their notoriously loyal fans - they've just traded Len Williams, a very fine DT and former #6 overall pick, to the Giants for two mid-round picks. Absolute disgrace of a deal. To the fecking Giants, too! Absolute disgrace of a franchise/ownership at the moment. Gase can fuck off tonight. Woody Johnson and his baby oil firm can fuck off tomorrow. TM - I'm beginning to think that the Skins have got some serious competition for worst-run franchise in the NFL. We are an absolute shambles at the moment. There is even a whisper that our team captain, Jamal Adams, might demand a move at the end of the season. He's a top-five safety and deserves better than he's getting in New York at the moment. That long-standing comparison between West Ham and the Jets continues..."

"Hope for his sake he's just having a bad half, as this Rudolph literally looks like the worse QB I've ever seen. Just stares straight forward and doesnt see anyone coming from either slightly to the side."

"Donald is a superb player, isn't he? He must an absolute nightmare to try to block. Remember Art Monk well - great receiver. Ran tight routes and was athletic, but had amazing hands. Saw him take some outrageous catches - things he should never have caught."

"Yeah you still get some athletic freaks who can bring pressure from the inside, no better example than Aaron Donald who is the single most disruptive defender the league has seen since Peak JJ Watt of about 6 years ago"

"the cunts running the hall of fame are a joke. dexter manley and charles mann (five superbowls between them) are still waiting, and it took them thirteen years after his retirement to recognise art monk (hence why he got the four minute standing ovation at his induction)"

"Yep, spot on with the formations. Although when the Jets defaulted to a 3-4 system (forced on them by injuries) in the early/mid 80s, Klecko lined up at Nose Tackle in the middle of the front three. He weighed ""just"" 260lbs, which was smaller than most NTs. But his strength was ridiculous and he was more agile and had better evasive skills and leverage than other NTs in the league. So we just put the two bigger guys either side of him and let him loose on the QB or running back. He shouldn't just be in the ridiculous Hall of Fame, he should be in every discussion about the top ten players in history - in any position. Pro-bowler in three positions - two of them after a bad knee injury. Then I look at some HoF entries and think ""nah"". That's why Jets fans find the HoF thing utterly laughable. I liked it when Howie Long from the Raiders gave a great speech about how Klecko was his inspiration when he was inducted into the HoF. In a way, that's more of a Klecko thing than actually being in the Hall of Fame."

"Far Cough 1:59 Mon Oct 28 Re: NFL (since 2016) Lineman are not noted for getting sacks are they, I thought that was an LBs job? Would depend what defensive system they run, if its a 4-3 then the defensive end a chandler Jones, JJ Watt sort of player comes from the edge and will get the majority of sacks. If they play a 3-4 they tend to have 3 big bodies in the middle and your outside linebackers e.g Von miller"

"Gastineau used to do that to gee himself up even more, though. He was, surprisingly, a good team player. He would do his little dances and make a show of it, but he generally knew to be back at the line of scrimmage to do it all again quickly. But, yes, was easily the most outlandish of the four. And the one who most wanted to start a fight! The others - Klecko, Lyons and Salaam - would just get their head down after a sack and do it all again. Relentless tackling machines."

"FC - not so sure about that. Linebackers are obviously more mobile and hit the gaps off the edge etc. But most good defensive lines would lead their team in sacks combined. The Sack Exchange was our four-man defensive line in the early 80s and they took the league for 60+ sacks in some seasons. Incredible line up that we can only dream of these days. Proper team players, too. None of this ""all about me, all about the money"" nonsense of the 21st Century mob."

"Zeb - yes, spot on. We have got a slightly easier looking second half to the season. But I do wonder about the motivation for the team now that the season is already a bust. Gase has been a spectacularly disastrous experiment. I'd get rid of him this morning if I could. He's looking worse than Rich Kotite - and he was indescribably poor (won four games over two seasons!). Sack Gase and admit the failure - and then appoint Williams (current DC) as HC. See how he works out. The defence has been poor this season, but I suspect the players would rally around Williams. They like him."
