General Election - July 2024

This appears to be the rumour on Sky. An easy win for Starmer and some big names losing their seats. The Country needs a change but is it going to get one? The thought of seeing that annoying Beth Rigby for 6 weeks though is a horrifying thought.

"Don’t know about this COMPULSION. The Royal Borough of Greenwich, having accepted my registration to vote, is now considering my application to cast it by post. Nice email exchange with CATHY mind you - there is still a refreshingly personal touch about English official practice, which I miss."

"SoH, spot on. The argument makes no sense. If you feel that you will not be represented and have lost all faith in the political system, then you can't complain? How does that work? Similarly a similar dullard argument, that if you don't vote, then you are betraying those who fought for the right to vote. The people who come out with this, seem to miss the words 'RIGHT TO' and have seeminly replaced it with 'COMPULSION TO'. We do not live in a communist state. It's tiresome."

Why can’t you still complain when it’s fact you are guaranteed it will be either of the 2 main parties voted in again to fuck it up? Seems the youth have had enough and until there is a definitive move away from these 2 it will be a waste of time. Those that don’t vote can crack on moaning about a need for change away from the shit show these main parties have provided for DECADES……

"The real Labour manifesto: Work hard, provide for your family, and pay your taxes and we'll give it to those that don't."

"It's quite telling that when the right ""orchestrate"" something in the belief that it will save societal values in THEIR country that they feel are under threat, the best the left can do in response is stamp around in support of a terrorist state and/or glue themselves to the road. By the way, is lager popular or populist?"

"Pretty obvious what this kind of orchistrated migration has got to do with nutjob extreme-right populism and its vote, Lotus Fanny."

"People have tied themselves firmly to the memory of their political party as it was when they first discovered politics (be it at school, college or university). That's all it is - a memory, and a distant, never to return one, at that. You are not being unfaithful by ditching them for they are no longer that party - who does Labour stand for these days? No mines or miners, no shipyards or shipwrights, few uncontainorised docks and associated dock workers, very few factories and factory workers, even fewer steel works & steelworkers. That's the core support of the Labour you so enthusiastically remember and it no longer exists. The Tories are no better. Thatcher fundementally changed their core support by selling the middle class council houses and shares in public utilities; those eager to purchase the shares especially must now feel that they've been royally dry-fucked up a piles-ridden arse. Them's the facts and not talking about it won't change things. Grow some and stop dreaming/living in a long-gone past."
