"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

"if Kamara keeps playign the way he did at the weekend then Brees could play til he's 50, just hand the ball off and watch him break through 6 tacklers"

"crystal falace 6:32 Mon Sep 23 There was a conscious effort to limit him but I agree, some decision were bad. But then he does what he did against Texans, without needing much arm strength at all and I think he can go a while."

"Just think his arm might be going, maybe the injury layoff might do him some good and he wont fatigue like he did last season, but for the last 6 games of last season including the playoffs he was not the same player as he was at the start and hasnt looked at his best this season until he got hurt. With the way Brady has kept going people seem to think its normal for Brees, Rivers etc to keep going until 40 but it isnt, Brady is a freak who has dedicated almost everything to football including a crazy diet and workout regiment, Look at the way Peyton fell off a cliff, that used to be the norm for QBs"

I have been more worried about Brees than some on the Saints forum I frequent but he should be around for a while longer. Can't see the injury being something that will be aggravated by age.

Just read that the Jets defense has scored more points than their offense this season? That's extraordinary.

It's crazy to think the Dolphins turned their noses up to Brees twice. If Mahomes carries on the way he's started he beats both their records.

"Think the passing records could come down to who plays longer out of Brady and Brees, both should overtake manning for touchdowns this season (if Brees comes back soonish) and i think brady is about 1 year's worth of passing yards behind Brees for the record. Brees looks close to being done than Brady at this point even without the injury he seems to have lost a fair amount of arm strength from about midway through last season."

"Fuck the Pat's, I'm very much looking forward to when they have their time in the wilderness. Like the Spurs of the NFL ;o) Good luck replacing someone who's thrown over 71,000 yards as well. 71k - ha ha, fucking ridiculous and Brees has even more and has a record I just can't see ever being beaten. Couple of legends."

"Could be a decent game this week against the Bills, they have a couple of decent receivers in Brown & beasley who may not be a great matchup for Gilmore as they're smaller faster guys. Big test will be if they can contain Josh Allen in the pocket and force him to beat them with his arm which is erratic at best."

I appreciate they've had a very easy schedule so far but the early season stats for the patriots looks worrying for the rest...... Total Offense - 5th Pass Offense - 2nd Rush Offense - 21st Total Defence - 1st Pass Defence - 1at Rush Defence - 1st

"The Saints surprised me. Big plays on special teams and defence and Kamara on offence. Maybe the toughest three games they will play all season, certainly the toughest run and still lead the division. Hold the fort and stay in the hunt and all the other clichés for next 5 weeks and it's a gravy."

"A few of my friends were in Seattle for last nights game, with one of them being a Saints fan, so a cracking night for him. You'll know a couple of them extremely well Mr Burns, as virtual neighbours of yours for many a year. David O and Graeme L from Carisbrooke Close!"

"Niners won ugly. The Defense played lights out and saved the day. Niners Offense was an absolute joke, two picks due to receivers bobbling the ball, two fumbles from Mostert a fumbled snap and a snap that hit the player in motion. The offense moved the ball well and gained plenty of yards, would have scored 40 plus points but for the errors. Bye week next week, get some rest and work on cleaning up the mistakes. Niners 3-0 and on a roll!"

"I was second-guessing Gase's play calls today - so imagine how easy Belichick found it. Sure, he had his third string QB in the game - his first start in the NFL - but that's precisely when you do something different, knowing that your opponents can't have seen any game film of your QB. Gase went inside himself and kept repeat-calling the same failed plays. It was a childish effort against a tactical master. Deservedly got thumped (the 14 points flattered us)."

"Gase already openly admitting that his play-calling has been poor, btw, so that's not just my assessment. This chancer looks way out of his depth at the moment. I wouldn't mind, but at the Jets he's swimming in a shallow enough pool as it is. When does Gregg Williams take over?!"

"In fairness this patriots defence made big ben look completely useless in week 1 and destroyed the fins in week 2 too, no shame in not being able to do anything against them especially with a 3rd string qb"

"Well, that's the 0-3 Jets' season completely over already. Absolutely shite, on both sides of the ball, even if they had so many players out injured. The brave new era of Gase is already looking a little troubled. He's supposed to be an offensive mind, and yet in the absence of Darnold - still at least two weeks away from a return - he offered nothing, coaching wise, to suggest this side will trouble teams offensively without their excellent young quarterback. Bye week next, then the Eagles. We could be 0-5 before Darnold even has a sniff of a return. Bog-eyed Gase needs to stop fucking talking and start studying some coaching manuals. He's done nothing but jibber-jabber since he got the job that should have gone to McCarthy. Utter, utter dross so far. It's no wonder the Fins ditched him."

Looks like the Panthers have found a QB who can throw.

I am beginning to suspect that getting Jimmy Garropolo off waivers for my fantasy team to replace Drew Brees was not a wise move especially as the 49ers are on a bye next week - Gah! Actually the last bit might help.

Hoping for a race to the bottom in the NFC South to keep the Saints in it while Brees is out. Not bad so far. Dirty Birds lose today.
