General Election - July 2024

Post twoleftfeet »

This appears to be the rumour on Sky. An easy win for Starmer and some big names losing their seats. The Country needs a change but is it going to get one? The thought of seeing that annoying Beth Rigby for 6 weeks though is a horrifying thought.

"Seriously, this is the policy in question https://www.euronews.com/my-europe/2024/05/02/eu-unveils-1-billion-aid-package-for-lebanon-in-bid-to-curb-refugee-flows So you have convinced yourself this is some kind of corrupt scheme to actually cause more suffering while funnelling money to Hezbollah. You’re fucking insane."

"OK, so no serious solution for the humanitarian crisis taking place in Lebanon right now coming from you other than “don’t encourage them”. You’re clearly an idiot without a clue who can’t compete on the labour market. Just do the right moral thing and admit you’re after a handout; come on, I challenge you."

"My alternative policy? Have some morals. Don't actively encourage cheap labour to keep a handful of industrialists happy, whilst simultaneously handing out millions to criminals in places like the Lebanon, whilst knowing full well, that those criminal governments will continue treating immigrants as subhumans. It's double faced. It's corrupt. And it's evil. Most people would argue that Hezbollah are the most powerful force in the Lebanese government. Hezbollah are also in Syria backing Assad's regime. The Syrians entering Lebanon are largely escaping that regime. How do you think they will be treated, with or without a billion euros thrown into the mix? You can do the dot to dot with this one yeah? The EI must be naive as they come, or operate in a moral vacuum."

"Crowdfund the refugee camps and, in fact, all foreign aid. Then, if people want to make a donation they are free to do so. They can then register it as a charitable donation on their tax return and get a rebate - if the treasury can afford it....and has the staff to process it."

"Of course I disagree with you arsene. You are a racist, an ignoramus and a bigot claiming the right to demand a solution on practical matters like how to satisfy labour market demand in an aging population that demands ever higher purchasing power. Your “solution” is to demonise me because I say there is no alternative but to find a collective solution to the fact foreigners want to come in and do that work. And that is why I say I disagree with you because you are a stupid racist. Got it? I thought you unionists were better at this. Clearly not. Oh and Exeter, the money is going to fund the refugee camps - you have no right to assume it is going to be trousered by any corrupt regime."

Well..well..well. Latest YouGov poll commissioned by the Times newspaper had Reform UK at 19 per cent to the Conservatives 18 per cent of voting intention. A vote for Conservatives is a vote for Labour! Vote Reform!

"I would like to see the big issues of this country such health education utilities locked in as a cross party plan, so no matter the govt the country continues function as one. We can then concentrate on how we spend the rest. If you make a place a shithole, like most of our high st towns roads roundabouts then people act like it and I don’t like it."

"H&P, brilliant, in one single post, you've said that the EU have done a good thing, as far as making sure tax payers money is well spent, re. Hungary.... and in that single post, are arguing that giving 1 billion euros the the LEBANESE GOVERNMENT is also a good idea? you think that will be well spent do you, and end up spent on what it's supposed to be spent on? This is the Lebanese government we're talking about....you know, the ones that are so corrupt, they can have blame attributed to them for something like the port explosion, and a couple years on have the freedom of the streets still. Unreal. The EU and the Lebanese gov't, ideal bed partners, both corrupt to the core."

"If those passionate about the Red and the Blue teams had anything resembling a backbone, let alone wishing the best for the country (which neither (NEITHER) of those sets of clowns can deliver), they'd vote for any other party. Can lob the soppy LibDems in with them, too. Problem is, they really don't trust the ""other lot"" to do the same so will fanatically stick with their proven losers until hell freezes over. And so the cycle continues and every conscientious (HAH!) voter pats down their comfort blanket and readies themselves for Moaning Season."

"H & P Racist is another term the left throw at people who don't share their Idylic world view. I understand what you are saying though. You think all those who disagree with you are ignorant and frustrated. You're right of course, in your own belief system, and if alternative views are pointed out, your arguments will be repeated multiple time until people get fed up arguing. Independent observers may be forgiven for thinking it is you who are in fact, the bigot."

"Or it could be said that you are a racist because you ignore that the labour market would be in an existential crisis if the people weren’t coming in. Populism is nothing but getting a whole load of frustrated ignorant individuals to do something very stupid indeed collectively. That is the case on Labour policy, migration, the environment and any issue you might care to mention"

"'Populist' is one of those media terms like 'far right' meant to bracket anybody who doesn''t agree with the left dominated elites as neo nazis. It's good not to be a racist, I am not a racist, but at present UK and Europe are in an existential crisis with too many people coming in from countries of the third world. If anybody opens their mouth to criticise the policies which prevent the removal of these people thay are called far right, rather than ordinary people who are concerned about issues such as crime, public services, free speech and the erosion of the local cultures.."

*facepalms Goodness me - who actually needs money to run refugee camps in Lebanon when all you have to do is talk utter bollocks about foreigners to get your cheap vote. And actually the fines on the Orban government are in place to make sure taxpayers’ money is not being misspent on a super-corrupt regime while you have no right to say the budget for the refugee programme is going to be wasted. What a soggy mess the Populist vote in the UK is - fucking vote Labour and just admit you’re expecting a handout. Wankers!
