In the past he's favoured a 3-4-3 formation...hard to see how we can do that currently with only 3 senior CBs, one of whom is injured. He's also played wingers (Solly March as an example) in the wing back roles.
Typically when a 3-4-3 gets announced on a match day the manager is immediately described as being too negative, too cautious etc. I guess it depends on the composition of the 4.
He's given young players chances...hopefully that continues at West Ham.
Welcome Graham.

I think it’s a good appointment considering we only go for out of contract managers so that we don’t have to pay compensation. He wasn’t my first choice and he was shit at Chelsea, but we would have taken him when he was at Brighton, and I would have had him for the England job over the Kraut skeleton.
It may not work out. If I was a needy twat I could state from the off that this is a terrible decision. Eventually, most managers get sacked or let go so eventually I would be proved right.

I love all this 'Lope acted with dignity' bollocks. Where was his dignity when he was spinning his Real Madrid contract whilst manager of Spain. And when he was talking to Sullivan whilst Moyes was still charge.
Fuck him. Useless cսnt. Top level football is full of wolves. You can't feel sympathy for an attacked wolf when the same wolf has done the same to other wolves. All as bad as one another.
I like the connection there because he also managed Wolves
...............twat!
Fuck off to a Spurs forum you yid cսnt

Russ 15.17, you are making a false equivalence if you consider conversations between Sullivan and Jalopy the same as what is going on now between Potter and Sullivan.
Right now we have an incumbent manager, just a few months into a contract who is pending dismissal, whereas when Sullivan was speaking to Jalopy, and several others it turns out, Moyes was in a running down contract that was not being renewed.
So what? Moyes was still in charge and working with the team knowing that the club were talking to other coaches. The point is its all about looking after number one. Lope has proved he doesn't care about other clubs when he looked after himself so why are people so bothered.

Not true. Real Madrid decided to pay up the paltry compensation on his National Teams contract extension clause...
Lopetegui did fuck all wrong and Rubiales decided to throw his toys out of his pram and to fuck him off on the eve of the World Cup anyway. He should have negotiated a more water tight contract that didn't allow for that to happen.
I didn't say he did anything wrong. But he did speak to Real Madrid and negotiate a deal with them behind Spain FA's back. He looked after number one. Nothing wrong with that. But I do find it hypocritical that people feel sympathy with him when he himself is not part of the moral brigade.
Is there anything interesting about behind the scenes at Chelsea when he was there? It must have been chaos.
He does go into the scale of change behind the scenes, turnover of long established staff beyond just players, instability and challenges etc.
Cheers! May give it a listen, will definitely do if he gets appointed. Please tell me he sounds the part for a future manager. I know they can all talk a good game, but was it potentially encouraging?
Being honest he sounds a bit wet to me. Can see him getting chewed up by our club a bit...expect the players will like him, and he sounds a bit like a guy you'd want in for a long time if he can get established. But worried there's too much 'nice guy' in there to deal with our Club which is frnakly a hornets nest of arseholes most of the time.

Doesn't wear Club badges or colours either.
I don't mind that as much (although it's a bit weird for a manager). Just not the black roll-neck that makes him look like every shit wannabe author who hung around in Prague in the 1990s, not finishing their books.
He fucking loves a turtle neck. All very man from Milk Tray..

Eurgh! He'd better not do that black roll-neck thing at West Ham! It just shouts 'plastic philosopher'. Every pound shop Pep in the world - including Ten Hag - wears one of those, thinking it makes them look intelligent.
I'll let you off with it, just because you were still recovering from the trauma of Chelsea. But don't do that, Graham.

And fuck sitting through 90 mins of him spinning his way through his time at Chelsea as anything other than a total failure. It was bad enough watching him royally fuck it up at the time on the telly, although I did find it morbidly amusing seeing Chelsea crash to 11th in the table.
