Saturday football

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs NEWCASTLE UNITED (1230)
Newcastle come into this on top form – four straight wins and one defeat in the last six. Contrast that with the hosts’ recent record of one win and four losses in their last six - and a hilariously pissed off manager. And all that makes for an intriguing contest. Away win.

BOURNEMOUTH vs EVERTON (1500)
The Cherries are toying with a Champions League finish, while the Toffees are within spitting distance of a Championship finish. Home win.

ASTON VILLA vs LEICESTER CITY (1500)
Here’s a gilt-edged chance for Villa to move back to where they came from just a couple of months ago. It’s also a chance for Leicester to move back to where they came from last season. Both are likely to take their chances. Home win.

CRYSTAL PALACE vs CHELSEA (1500)
Chelsea may have lost their last two, but are way stronger their hosts. Palace are flirting with the drop and will continue their coquetry this afternoon. Away win.

MANCHESTER CITY vs WEST HAM UNITED (1500)
After a series of disastrous, uncharacteristic results, City find themselves blessed with a home fixture against West Ham. Sod’s Law, innit? No decent strikers and Jarrod Bowen out injured. City hinting at a recovery, of sorts. Need you hear more? No. Home win. Image
Can Kudus be the difference?

SOUTHAMPTON vs BRENTFORD (1500)
Well, at least you don’t support Southampton. Small mercies. The Bees are unlikely to extend such mercy this afternoon. Away win.

BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION vs ARSENAL (1730)
The game of the day. Away win.

SUNDAY

FULHAM vs IPSWICH TOWN (1400)
Fulham are unbeaten in their last six, but there are just two wins in that lot. Coincidentally, that’s the same number of wins that Ipswich have in their last six. Trouble is that the other four are all defeats. Best make that five from seven. Home win.

LIVERPOOL vs MANCHESTER UNITED (1600)
One win and five losses in their last six for the visitors. Oh dear. Well, at least they’re below us. The hosts come into this on the back of a 5-0 away win. Wankers. Home win.

MONDAY

WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS vs NOTTINGHAM FOREST (2000)
Wolves are in trouble, no doubt about that. Forest, meanwhile, are on a roll, but not of the bread variety. Away win.

TOT vs NEW
BOU vs EVE
AST vs LEI
CRY vs CHE
MCY vs WHU
SOU vs BRE
BHA vs ARS

FUL vs IPS
LIV vs MNU

WOL vs NFO

Hope we do get pulled in. Sullivan then has to act.

Wolves, Everton and ipswich all look better teams than us.  We could well be pulled into the relegation fight. Bowen was keeping us out of it single handedly

You're right threesixty, but this wasn't a case anyone being reckless or out of control. Not every clash of heads is a foul... in fact most result in a stop in play with a drop ball restart. It just so happens that they both went up for a header and both got contact on the ball

Ipswich ahead. Gap closing to 7 points for us

West Ham legend Ben Johnson nearly scores, and West Ham fan Szmodics follows it up to score.

Love it!

Both North London clubs can feel hella hard done by the refs yesterday.
Saliba got a touch on the ball before the clash of heads so no penalty. That's the critical element.

Newcastle goal right to be allowed. It was an accidental handball by Joelinton and he didn't score it himself. Thems the rules. Postecoglu would've been better criticising his own player for failing to make the pass

Not that I give a toss about either tbh
You can do a sliding tackle, touch the ball but clatter through someone’s shins and it’s a foul because you’re uncontrolled or didn’t take care. So I don’t think the fact that the Arsenal guy headed the ball means anything anymore. maybe I’m wrong a the rules say different.

I’ve seen so many players get done for feet being too high even though they got the ball but kicked someone’s head at the same time. Seems that it’s all about every player having to be aware of whether they should make a challenge that could harm a player regardless of if they play the ball or not.

If someone is late with a tackle with their feet it’s a pen. Why would this be different?
Noticed Arteta wasn’t upset when Fabianski made a genuine attempt to punch the ball at a corner & conceded a pen for contacting a head

Postecogulu feeling the pressure. Correct decision to allow Newcastles goal & he is crying like a baby
Might be a chance of Liverpools game being snowed off today so they are fresh to smack Tottenham on Wednesday

A bit dangerous IMO when at a big club you start going down the line of 'gallant losers' and bemoaning your luck, but I suppose he had to come out with something different to all the other losses. I get the rules, but the handball made all the difference with the goal, in fact it's pretty fucking ridiculous that it can be given.

I just read this, Sven. I wish I was at the ground to witness it.

Everyone was ready for his 10,000th run… Australia’s Steve Smith fell one short of the milestone in front of a home crowd as India’s Prasidh Krishna celebrated his dismissal.

Karma's a bitch.

That’s just plain wrong

Just watching Southampton v Brentford on MOTD

Nice to see Brighton get back in it and a point against Arsenal! Whose supporters are now moaning that Liverpool got more of a break between games🤣 Its all a conspiracy don't you know, Arsenal fans do seem to have taken on the victim tag these past couple of seasons.............

Liverpool now 5 points clear with 2 games in hand, looking ominous, mind you i reckon 30 points will be enough to survive this season? So at least with us on 23 and 8 points above the bottom 3, we should survive easily.

Fortunately only Palace gained on us today.

18 games to go

Between them, Arsenal, Chelsea and City are polishing the Premier league trophy before handing it to Liverpool.

If we got him he’d be just as lost as all the other centre forwards who have tried to play for us in the last 7 years.
No danger of us getting him to ruin his career with Sullivan in charge of the purse strings, so don't worry.

a  top 7 club!

First half was probably the best I've seen this season (except the goals against).
There is a lot of creativity in this team, and shows why attacking is better than sitting back, even against Manc.
Just a shame Kudus couldn't find better solutions on the 3-4 chances he was handed.

Unfortunately JLo, like the former manager, is as useful as a bottle of cats piss.

Manc was there for the taking, but as the tale goes, West Ham are the bet team to meet when being shit.

Arsenals tactic of standing over a corner for about 3 mins until the other team dozes off finally results in a booking
