At Euro 96 Stuart Pearce was 34 years old and played on the left of 3 centre backs. He didn’t have the pace left to play at fullback.
Dicks was the standout LB in the league, hence why there were so many calls for him to be involved with England.

No proper West Ham fan of that era would ever say Dicks was overrated, the bloke was our driving force and put his body on the line every game.
