Saturday football

BOURNEMOUTH vs NOTTINGHAM FOREST (1500)
On paper a dull fixture, but more likely to be a compelling one between two sides that have totally surpassed expectations so far this season. Between them, they’ve put together eight wins and four draws in their last six outings. Hard to predict the outcome with each possible outcome a realistic possibility. Draw.

BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION vs EVERTON (1500)
Two consecutive wins for the hosts after a series of painful draws. What would the Toffees give for that? Home win.

LIVERPOOL vs IPSWICH (1500)
Was there ever a more certain certainty? Home win.

SOUTHAMPTON vs NEWCASTLE UNITED (1500)
Speaking of certainties, here’s another one. Probably. Away win.

WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS vs ARSENAL (1500)
The Arse are snapping at Pool’s posterior while well aware of Forest snapping – albeit more vigorously – at theirs. Away win.

MANCHESTER CITY vs CHELSEA (1730)
Chelsea come into this on the back of some poor form. City, well they don’t fill their fans with optimism. Could and should be a cracker. Draw.

SUNDAY

CRYSTAL PALACE vs BRENTFORD (1400)
You can fit a Rizla between these two, but not much else. Still, the Bees stand out, just. Away win.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs LEICESTER CITY (1400)
A relegation six-pointer? Hmm, maybe. Either way, fun to contemplate. In their last six league games, the two sides have accumulated a combined total of one point. That’s 35 points dropped from their possible last combined of 36. Let that sink in. Home win.

ASTON VILLA vs WEST HAM UNITED (1630)
Not a-bloody-gain? Yep, fraid so. See if we can get something from this today. Confident? Hardly. Draw.
Image

FULHAM vs MANCHESTER UNITED (1900)
Another fixture to make you smile. Unless you are of the red persuasion, in which case you’re likely to be even redder at the end of this. Home win.

BOU vs NFO
BHA vs EVE
LIV vs IPS
SOU vs NEW
WOL vs ARS
MCY vs CHE

CRY vs BRE
TOT vs LEI
AST vs WHU
FUL vs MNU

And now a booking after 4 minutes.

This is brutal.

Would have been one of the managers we (Sullivan) rejected as he hadn’t previously managed in the Premier league
Will obviously be attracting attention in the summer

It’s horrible. The blueprint basically for success has been staring Sullivan in the face for at least 5 years in terms of what Brighton Brentford and Bournemouth have been able to do (add Forest this season though that seems more like luck than careful planning) and he’s just been too stupid, greedy, impatient and arrogant to see it.

Everton 3 points behind us.

Nah. Everton only had 31% possession.  People on this site prefer losing with 50%+ possession.

The new Everton manager has started well, we should have had a look at him 😉

Could do with a late Brighton equaliser.

As for the useless Freddie Potts, Portsmouth go down 5-0 then a minute later Potts comes on with most of the 2nd half left to play and they don't concede again and actually managed to score a consolation. Maybe just a mad coincidence.

But didn't you claim Lopetegui was seriously hampered by injuries in your defence of him?
Not on that scale, I said in specific key areas of the pitch.

Bournemouth look superb, some great signings who were given time to settle.

Yeah, we’re not going down. As soon as todibo bowen and Summerville are back potter will have somethjng to work with and some options. We will still be a striker and a cb light (as I really don’t think we will sign anyone of substance this window) but we will grab enough points. No way do Leicester saints or Ipswich overhaul us even if we just limp to the end of the season.

Then well it’s all down to Sullivan’s whims as to what our chances are going forward. If he pulls his usual tricks potter is going to have a barely fit for purpose squad half full of useful players he wanted and half full of Sullivan picks he likely didn’t.

Until we get to 35 pts my first thought is defeats for Everton Ipswich Wolves Southampton (although they are already gone) & Leicester (painful as Tottenham winning is)
Back of the envelope musings suggest that even if we fail to get another point we will stay out of the relegation zone until 26th April, which, I believe is with, then, 4 remaining games.

Thanks, CoS.

BOU vs NFO (A - mad as a fucker swap for the Liverpool game in my acca).

BHA vs EVE (H - just because, well, it's also in my acca).

LIV vs IPS (H - I split my acca with a life-long (Well, ever since he ditched Rugby as his sport of choice) Liverpool supporter. Couldn't put him through the stress of the possibility of his team losing to the tractor boys AND fucking up the acca).

SOU vs NEW (A - can't see even the feistiest of saints getting anything from this).

WOL vs ARS (A - the top stays the top and the bottom can kiss my arse...sorry...stays the bottom).

MCY vs CHE (H - wish there was a "D" for "Don't give a fuck")

CRY vs BRE (A - but C MCY vs CHE)

TOT vs LEI (D - both a draw and as in MCY vs CHE. Not really. An away win would offer a few minutes amusement on Sunday).

AST vs WHU (H - only positive is it's a late Sunday game, so the false dawn needs to hang around a bit longer).

FUL vs MNU (H - just because...and not because I like Fulham).
