"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

"Ladies and gentleman, I give you Herman Edwards Jnr - a hard-ass ex-New York Jets HC, fully signed-up nutcase and a man who lived for years like he was one moment away from going postal. He was a decent coach, Herm, and had a reasonable record in NY (when he could get his head around clock management). But when we lost, he was video gold. He took most defeats very personally... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uTLtBGgSAM"

"TM - yeah, your owner is a huge problem at that franchise. You've had some great coaches down the years - hardly ever supported by a GM/owner prepared to invest in them. It all reminds me of the Jets - except that we've rarely even had the coaches! I did love Herm Edwards, though, simply because he was a hard-ass nutjob!"

"Oh well, I just hope the Chiefs either sack their defensive coach or get some proper ballers in the draft to help Mahomes. This hurt as much as a West Ham defeat."

"the media need to recognise that many of these new breed of coach came through and were hired by mike shanahan, at least lafleur made reference to him when he got the packers job. shanahan, the man who should have been our GM and his son of Mcvay as head coach but instead our cocksucker owner employed an inept puppet cսnt in the role"

"Yep, agree with Scorch on this - there's rarely some secret method. Good coaches (like Belichick and his mentor, Parcells) teach their assistants good fundamentals. That's how their influence gets passed on. But it doesn't guarantee success when the assistants move up. Lord knows how many Belichick devotees there have been crawling around the Patsies' training facilities over the past 20 years. But not too many of them made it big elsewhere. Belichick just knows his stuff. Ultimately, others go off and be themselves - lesser versions of him."

Always happens when a team has some success. Assistant coaches instantly become hot property around the league in case there's some 'secret'. There very rarely is.

"I definitely believe Bellichick Is th best coach going, but half the league have been falling over themselves trying to hire anyone who had anything remotely to do with McVay and everyone seems obsessed that he can remember every starter who plays on the oppositions defence like most fans would probably be able to do."

"Belichichik is indeed very good. Clearly hasn't done them any harm with the amount of cheating they've done either. For all we know, him and Brady had been doing it for 15 years before they were caught. Couple of cunts remind me of Aussie cricketers!"

"Anyone who thinks McVay or any other coach is in Belichick's league or even playing the same game is demented. He's been the best at what he does for 30 years. Almost everyone else there has come and gone in terms of players and assistant coaching and he still wins all the time. Even if the rest of the division is so consistently bad that they get a free pass into the playoffs and 6 guaranteed wins most seasons. None of his coaching staff are able to replicate what he does after they leave, and none of his players ever play anywhere like as well again despite having lived in the system. He's either a magician or in league with Satan himself. (I don't mean Robert Kraft, although that would be an easy mistake to make...)"

"Belichick probably relaxes by watching six hours of walk-throughs and training videos, counting the WR's steps on a mid-curl route. I think that's his idea of fun."

"I'll dig out the radio phone-in: it'll be genuinely good to know that we have a HC who can relax and laugh slightly at himself. He'll get on with the players better if that's the case. I always felt that Bowles was constantly uptight and on edge. When I saw Gase at the presser, I worried that we'd done the same thing! Mind you, Belichick is hardly a barrel of laughs, is he?! I don't know if he has ever relaxed!"

"yes, he looked wired as fuck but fair play to him, I heard him interviewed on another show (phone in on some radio station) post the press conference and he more than held his own, and was quite funny. it won't be boring for the next couple of years :.)"

"What worries me most about the Jets' press conference, was Chris Johnson's admission that it was Gase's familiarity with the AFC East that led to his appointment. Of course, he's familiar with the division - he has coached in it with Miami. But he didn't exactly rip up any trees for the fishmen, and if mere familiarity with losing in the division is sufficient to get the job then we're not setting a high bar. I'm still convinced that Mike McCarthy was the better choice. But, hey, Gase is now our guy - so we'll get behind him. And the execs have had the good sense to appoint a top defensive co-ordinator (Williams) to ease pressure on Gase and allow him to focus on offense."

"So while, on paper, the Rams should be considered favourites for the Super Bowl, the combination of Belichick-Brady will always keep them in the hunt. In the AFC East this year, the Patsies were sub-par at times (their ""par"", that is) yet still came good every time it mattered. Never known a coach who could take others' cast-offs and turn them into world beaters like Belichick does. And the Patsies o-line is getting better by the game this season. Going to be one heck of a match-up with that Rams d-line."

"Belichick is comfortably the best head coach in the NFL. There are some excellent 'others', including McVay, Reid and Payton. But, unfortunately, there is only one Bill Belichick standing above all others. And I say that as a still-angry Jets fan. [Grabs napkin...weeps]"

"Patriots will probably look to run the ball a lot and tire out that defensive line and keep Goff off the field, the Oline has been dominant for the last 4 games opening huge holes and keeping brady untouched"

"Gronk isnt gronk anymore, that was his best game of the season last time out, he's been an immense blocker this season but hasnt done much receiving. Probably his last game in 2 weeks. I would say in general the chiefs have better receivers, i mean other than edelman they're working with other team's castoffs. I obviously think bellichick is incredible but most people would have you think McVay is the best coach in the game currently. Think Bill finds ways to confuse Goff, they'll take away cooks the same way they did Hill, its if they can stop the run with a lighter box and get pressure on Goff"
