"There is a bit of trouble brewing in Moldova/Traniestr. Moldova is said to be beginning mobilisation with a view to invading Traniestr. Tiraspol is appealing to help from EU, OSCE, UN and Russia. Keep an eye on it."

The idea that a Euro war bond breaks rule of law (especially if ratified by sovereign members) is as absurd as a white Chianti. What an arsehole you are SBT 2.

"Depends how you look at it Gopnik. Treaties are treaties, international rules based order, rule of law, EU values etc...Ahem So when the EU army is funded by the EU war bond, will the EU countries leave NATO or just defund it?"

"Anyway, I think a Euro war-bond is a perfectly sensible recourse in current circumstances. And yes, I am enjoying a very nice glass of Chianti with this excellent beef-shank stew I made over the weekend."

"Lisbon and Maastricht did not envisage an aggressive, imperialistic Kremlin on Europe’s flank and potentially nutjob Trump as US president undermining NATO for short-term political gain."

"Gopnik If you want the EU to raise direct taxation, that is a seismic change in EU policy. Not only that but its not allowed under the Maastricht or Lisbon treaties. You actually want taxation without representation? You're bonkers."

A European defence bond would certainly be a step in the right direction. It would fuck Trump up well and proper and indicate the Germans have finally kicked the Kremlin cock-smoking habit. Bring it on.

"Jaan In the background the EU want to issue 110bn in bonds (war bonds) to 're-arm' the EU. Bonds will need security, when issued by sovereign states this is secured by the state's ability to raise taxes on its people and companies. You know what is coming.... Once the EU has the ability to tax, issue bonds and raise an army then you can forget about dangerous conspiracy theories. Bea rin mind that NATO will be the EUs external force ,the new EU army will be an internal one."

"An UnHerd investigation published in August of last year revealed the inner workings of the TBI, which is partially funded by Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison. Ellison purchased digital health records company Cerner for $28 billion, while the TBI has previously advocated selling health records to fund scientific research. In September, former Finnish prime minister Sanna Marin joined the Institute in an advisory role. According to its website, the TBI provides guidance for over 30 governments, including Saudi Arabia under a £9 million deal between the two parties. Of its $81 million turnover in 2021, $79.4 million was from “government advisory work”."

"The CIA has built 12 “secret spy bases” along the Russian border in Ukraine that act as the “nerve centre” of Kyiv’s military, an investigation has revealed. Over eight years, the US agency has trained and equipped Kyiv’s intelligence officers in underground bunkers, some of which are buried deep in Ukraine’s forests. They have also fully financed and partially equipped them, according to the New York Times. Russian spy satellites are tracked by Ukrainians in the bunkers who eavesdrop on communications between Russian commanders and report back to the CIA, the report said. The intelligence partnership began a decade ago after Russia’s invasion of Crimea. The Ukrainians collected intercepts that helped prove Russia’s involvement in the 2014 downing of a commercial jetliner, Malaysia Airlines Flight 17. They also helped to pursue Russian operatives who interfered in the 2016 US election."
