"The thing giving me hope about this appointment is Steiden. Not because I think he is the messiah, but the fact Sullivan brought him in in the first place. That's not his usual MO, and he's clearly going to be a massive part of this appointment. If they have done their due diligence, which I'm trusting they have, and they see Lopetegui as the right man, then I'll back him obviously and see what he does. From all the talk, he is desperate to join us, he may have been watching us and go into the meeting with a clear plan how to take us forward. If that's the case, I'll be on board. Still hoping it's Fonseca. He'd go down a storm at ours."

"""Outside of Spanish national youth teams the Lopetgui fella doesn't have a good record."" Sevilla 170 games 53% win ratio won the Europa League. better than anything Moyes has ever done."

"Fans wish list. Progressive, young exciting front foot football. Amorin, DeZerbi, Slot, Still or someone we have never heard of as a manager who will take us forward, give youth a chance and get their heads around The West Ham Way. Like Klopp did at the bindippers. Sullivan's wish list. Experienced, Conservative, Mourinho, Benitez, Touchel. I am preparing myself to be underwhelmed."

Outside of Spanish national youth teams the Lopetgui fella doesn't have a good record. He lasts on average 21 months at each club he manages. HIs win rate isn't that good. He doesn't have my vote. Not that Sulli cares what I think.

"ludo21 5:50 Tue Apr 23 ''At the very least we must be in the box seat... let the season come to an end and Sporting win their title, Moyes can go graciously (or otherwise) and then we will see.'' Awww, how lovely. As if life works out like that, do you believe in Santa, too?"

"Lee Trundle 6:28 Tue Apr 23 I agree as well. I don't like former goalkeepers as managers. He's also one of the older names and likely cheaper ones too. Combined with his lack of success at Wolves, I'm not sure he would be an upgrade on results, maybe more entertaining though."

Boots 5:56 The 343 formation does seem to be the smoking gun in the room.? And there’s no harm in asking.

"Although he'd still likely be a vast improvement, I'd feel the most underwhelmed with Lopetegui out of all the names being thrown about."

"Also if you are courting a new manager it doesn't hurt to be seen to be publicly talking with arguably the most high profile option... the likes of Fonseca, Slot, Tuchel etc... are more likely to think 'well if Amorim is talking to 'lil old West Ham then perhaps I need to get in there sharpish'."

"Oh and BTW, has anybody noticed that our youth teams all operate 343 since the beginning of the season, Amorim operates a 343 He also introduces youth players more readily Maybe this has been planned all season"

"Leroy and Massive... that's my take on it too. Why bother coming over if there is nothing to it? Tim must have spoken with him prior to yesterday. At the very least we must be in the box seat... let the season come to an end and Sporting win their title, Moyes can go graciously (or otherwise) and then we will see."

"This bandstanding with the private jet just gets on my wick. If they were serious, they’d be doing this quietly and make media silence a condition of the negotiations until a deal is reached. So two-bob - BOARD OUT!"

"Amorim has made the effort to fly out to entertain our ""project"" whilst in the midst of hopefully achieving another domestic Cup double for Sporting. He's also been ruled out of going to Liverpool as is Alonso according to Jim White. I think it may be a case this is being downplayed whilst so much is still at stake in the season and no official murmurings were ever going to come out now. If anything, downplay it and keep all their powders dry on the subject for another day. Very strange to bomb it out of Portugal now during the business end of the season if he ain't serious about our proposal in toe with his agent. Can all come to nothing and for understandable reasons because he is in big demand for being so successful, do young (we know where we stand in the footballing world order). However it still feels in open play and why it's been said Amorim is still keeping his options open and not closed. As an aside, this Portugeezer has a bit about him I like. Doesn't give a fuck who he has a pop at on the touchline whenever Ive seen him in action and would love to see some of that on ours. Only a quick snapshot but you get an idea.. https://youtu.be/sU2annsf_zw?si=dmkuMxR7wnhl-6Jw https://youtu.be/gSChSBS9WY4?si=0LDNhKBMNOkF_iAk Also got one over old Legohead in the Champions League against Arsenal and also Spurs."
