Russell Brand
Dispatches tonight could be about him so he has jumped in first dismissing claims and rumours and saying anything he did in past was consensual. No doubt it will be said that this is The Matrix coming after him due to his opposition to mainstream media.

""" Re: Russell Brand At what age should a man not have sex with a Woman? What exactly are the right rules on this?"" When she is 16 and he is 30 it is very, very wrong. The fact that you need to have this explained to you means that you probably won't be able to rasp why. Some things are self-evident, this is one of those things."

Re: Russell Brand
"I watched that programme. 4 things stand out for me. I believed the Yank who said he raped her. Her going to the rape crisis centre the following day was a part of that. He deserves to be filled in for shagging a 16 yr old. Everything else was bullshit, women who want to live in a sexually liberated world where they can shag around, yet also want to assert Victorian morality when they have sex with someone and later regret it. The timing of the whole thing stinks and it is obvious why Channel 4 came after him now. He was a darling when he was doing this and was ultra left wing like everyone who works there. Now he's settled, doesn't shag around but has a couple of views they don't like, he is in the crosshairs. I have zero sympathy for him though, even if I'm wrong about the rape, what he did with the youngster is despicable."

Re: Russell Brand
"Excellent article in Unherd on this as usual it ends Everyone, in other words, subordinates the question of sexual misbehaviour to a political assessment of the accused. And perhaps it was ever thus, #MeToo or no #MeToo. In this case, the only takeaway from this ugly story is a warning to pretty young women. Be careful out there: for no one will care if you’re assaulted by a high-status sexual predator, except that predator’s political enemies. The whole thing here https://unherd.com/thepost/could-russell-brands-defenders-and-accusers-both-be-right/"

Re: Russell Brand
There’s crossover in the anti-establishment crowd between left and right - best example is probably the Bernie Bros. It’s the term “bigot” that gets to the victim side of things though. I generally prefer people who advocate for actual answers they think will work rather than just stirring up discontent.

Re: Russell Brand
joyo you stick up for Biden Why don’t you believe Kamala Harris? Are you a racist or just happy to accept sexual assault so long as it’s committed by your side? Very strange
Re: Russell Brand
"Oxbore uses that sponsor/advertiser line on most threads like this, in fact he’s used it on football ones too. Never explains what he means by it. It’s a compulsion or some kind of illness I think. He's desperately trying to sound ITK though."

"Anyway, a bigot is a bigot, and there’s nothing we can’t learn about self-awareness and integrity from the ones on the Right who claim to represent the working class, can we. Not much about actual concrete government policy though, mind you."

Re: Russell Brand
"“Now I don’t want to sit here and demonise all men, but”…. Just heard that on the radio. How is that ok? If a woman committed child abuse against her own kids, there is no way on earth anybody could pop up and say, “now I don’t want to demonise all mothers but”. The vast (VAST) majority of males find rape repugnant and hope that rapists get their just punishments."

Re: Russell Brand
In all seriousness - do any of you think Brand is significant-enough an influence to warrant Rupert Murdoch getting together with his establishment pals to take him down? Or is there at least a chance that a man who has put it about as much as he has may have gone too far on a number of occasions? The case against him doesn’t sound that strong from what a number of you have said. If you were planning to take him down wouldn’t you have made it more watertight?

The “victim” stuff is right there Exeter. If you have an alternative view (buy into conspiracy stuff basically) then you get labeled as a “right wing bigot”.

Re: Russell Brand
"Not a victim of anything, Mong. I abhor extremism in all its forms. Which is why I don't use social media, its filled with polarisation. The redefinition of the political spectrum that's taken place is what it is, but to a large extent its important to know whether you're conversing with a member of the traditional left, or the modem left, because they're two very different things and one can often end up talking at cross purposes as a result. The rest of your post is, frankly, astonishing, given the weaponisation of those subjects by both sides of the argument"

"What’s he the victim of? Being able to argue his points eloquently and succinctly? This “victim” shit is thrown around all the time, just a pathetic, tired, boring, predictable way of constantly trying to close down discussion."
