"Agree, Alfs. It's a much needed social satire, done in a very unique way. The captain's dinner is one of the most bizarre and memorable acts of any movie I can think of."

Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre is entertaining but a little disappointing for a Guy Ritchie film. Good enough for a sequel though.

Re: 2020 Movies (now including 2021 and 2022)
"Lee Trundle 12:30 Wed Mar 8 We all loved Luther S1 so much we couldn't bring ourselves to comment on the rapid season by season decline - though we did notice that every episode without Alice in it was a bit, well, bang average. The show properly jumped the shark when it killed off DS Ripley, presumably to make Luther more angry. Like Luther needed another reason to be angry. Incidentally, Saskia Reeves's portrayal of Luther's boss in season one is probably the most unintentionally hilarious acting performance I have ever seen. Her over-acting is monumental and her 'cockney' accent is an absolute car crash - worse than Dick Van Dyke's I would say, as he had the excuse of not being British."

Northern Sold 12:24 Wed Mar 8 It was watchable. Reminded me of another film (which I won't name as it will spoil the ending).

"bruuuno 3:01 Wed Mar 8 ""They had them in the UK too. Gutted, euro mongs?"" What a strange response. It wasn't a competition just an observation. They obvioulsly didn't catch on in Kensington and Chelsea."

"Haven‚Äôt read this thread for a while so had a scan through. This review in particular is up there with Mark Kermode and Barry Norman. Shit film, cracking review. ‚ÄúSurfaceAgentX2Zero 12:29 Tue Mar 7 Re: 2020 Movies (now including 2021 and 2022) Banshees is a tedious Vincent Van Gogh biopic transposed to Oirland so they can have lots of pretty Oirishy scenery and Oirishy music played in dimly-lit Oirishy pubs. Swap ears for fingers, add a wicked copper fucking his John Mills in Ryan's Daughter son up the arse and MickTimPat's your uncle. It's a pile of cսnt aimed cynically and squarely at winning an uncontroversial arty Oscar. The Irish count as honorary blacks, so there'll be no squealing on that account, to be sure‚Äú"

Re: 2020 Movies (now including 2021 and 2022)
"Watched Everything Everywhere all at once the other day. Was definitely my sense of humour so I had a good few laughs and it was a clever attempt at threading nietzsche, multiverse theory and Buddhism into an entertaining story. Not sure I’d put it up there as a great film though so an Oscar would be too much. Worth a watch though"

Re: 2020 Movies (now including 2021 and 2022)
Manuel 3:52 Wed Mar 8 The new Luther film has been panned by those who have already seen it. I felt it went a series too far on TV.
Re: 2020 Movies (now including 2021 and 2022)
When I was working in Lyon in 2001 I used to use the vhs video dispensing machines. Pretty sure they never had them in the UK as they would get vandalised. Aslo in Stockholm around 2005 they had DVD dispenders.

"I still use this shop from time to time, fantastic place I’ve used for 20 years. Fuck knows how they’re still in business but I suspect they are all living on their trust funds, fair play to them. https://www.20thcenturyflicks.co.uk/ Working in a video shop is my dream job, I still watch about one film a day on average.. love it"

Re: 2020 Movies (now including 2021 and 2022)
Ha Ha... yeah looking back was pretty lax... one form of ID ... meant to bring your membership card in with you but that went out the window so it was a case a lot of the time looking up members to allow then to rent... wasn't so bad if it was me my Mum or step dad doing it as we obviously knew a lot of the customers... but some of our staff boo boo'd big time... a few times after the films had not been brought back after a week you'd knock on what you thought was the customers door to be confronted by a 90 year old woman... bit off asking her where the 5 adult films that had been rented out under her address... Babyface?? Pretty Peaches?? Is that a how to cook video??
Re: 2020 Movies (now including 2021 and 2022)
"Sorry to say when I was about 15 they started renting video games, I went into a couple of shops and rented a game under my mates name.. only had to give their name and dob. Half inched the game thusly. Feel quite bad as I hate thieves now. Don’t worry soldo none were on your manor"
