"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

"If you want to watch a great little documentary, this is worth a go. Anyone saying their eyes remain dry for the whole thing is lying. One of the great NFL stories. https://youtu.be/8WRCU_gKSwg"

"This will resonate with a few West Ham fans: The establishment nature of the new Pound, as well as the more-sterile atmosphere of the new stadium, originally turned off some veteran fans, especially the old ""blue-collar"" fan base. This has resulted from what was originally a player and fan movement - the Dawg Pound - having been made ""corporate,"" by the Browns organization, including trademarks, copyrights and an official ""Dawg Pound"" logo. Also, the more sterile, corporate atmosphere at the new FirstEnergy Stadium (as opposed to the near anarchy at the old stadium in the 1960s-1990s) has been viewed by more traditionalist Browns fans and Dawg Pound season ticket holders as tarnishing the history and traditional passion of the fanbase."

"TM - bang on the money, mate. I agree entirely. You never can tell how QBs will adjust to the NFL, of course, but Watson looked and sounded like the real deal. I can't believe we passed on him. People at the Jets seem to get too het up measuring tangibles, and forget that key thing that any successful QB has: savvy (something Sanche, for example, lacked - for all of his athleticism). Watson looks street-fighter savvy. I think he'll do well at Houston."

"south bank, I'm probably repeating myself but I watched the two championship games he played in for Clemson and you could tell he had everything. for me, he should have been the no1 pick. he reminds me of Wilson but a better athlete. yes, you must have loads of cap room for next season after releasing so many big names. I also think you have a good chance today"

"TM - you're right. Us Jets have been far stronger than we thought we would be so far this season. I was preparing for an absolute ringer of a year - something like 1-15 or 2-14. I kinda' got suspicious that we were bombing on purpose in the post-season, after releasing all of our high-value (and often older) players such as Revis. When they went into the market for an ageing McCown, I genuinely thought that we were purposefully bombing the season in order to obtain the #1 draft pick next year. But so far that hasn't been the case. Btw, we had the option to take an excellent young QB in the April draft - DeShaun Watson. But, in a Marino-like move (we passed on him back in 1983), we ignored him. That sums up the Jets' drafting ability!"

"for all the early season doom and gloom, the Jets have performed great so far. I still think you need to draft a good young QB next spring but I think the coach has done well with the players he's had available"

"Gastineau, Klecko, Marty Lyons and Abdul Salaam (a.k.a. Larry Faulk): all superb players who brought the best out of each other and understood each other's strengths and weknesses. The sum of their parts was very high, but their teamwork and attitude made them even more than the sum of their parts. The current Jets should take note."

The Jets could do with big Joe Klecko coming out of retirement - even at the age of 63! Guy was a beast - the whole of the NY Sack Exchange were beasts.

"When the Ravens played the Vikes, I misheard Joe Flacco for Joe Klecko, I thought fuck me, big Joe Klecko from the Jets has come out of retirement"

"was a disgusting hit, cսnt saw Flacco sliding and lined his head up with his shoulder pad at full pelt. just surprised Flacco got up and walked off. should ban the cսnt for half a dozen games but knowing Goodall, nothing will be done"

"Couldn't believe that scoreline, the dolphin's defence has been playing well this year and Raven's have had by far the worst offence in the league. Sounds likea very dirty hit by Alonso to take Flacco out of the game, he might be in trouble"

"Lovely result for the Dolphins against the very average Ravens!!! Then again, the Dolphins probably have a worse set of QB's than the Niners, so not a major surprise. Kaepernick needs a job ;o)"

"I was just pleased those lovely Irish chaps refunded the extra 50 notes I bet. Annoyingly though, as I didn't fancy the Skins at all, I missed out on the bloke I'd backed almost every game this season without success."

"Those injuries were unlucky, but with the constant pressure they faced, you make your own luck. The Eagles defence crushed that O-line and made work for the doctors. Of course they made mistakes, but they were up against a fierce defence and an offence that can attack you from anywhere."

"you addressing me? Wentz played well but I said what would cost us in my post below and it proved to be. missed coverages and tackles won't let you beat the better teams and our safety Swearinger fucked up numerous times. we also had terrible luck with injuries to our o-line, that may end our season as three or four look injured. Wentz looked good as a rookie, but has strengthened quite a bit since and what I like most about him is his lack of fear after taking a hit"
