The latest episode is the start of season 84/85 (My first season following West Ham) where John Lyall almost left to join QPR that summer. Great clips, great music and full of interesting historical Information about West Ham during the Lyall era. Highly recommended. It deserves far more views than it currently gets."

Cheers Stepney. On this particular thread I try to be polite rather than turn it into an insult throwing contest like so many other threads on here. Particularly when dealing with someone that is obviously a bit unhinged. Although we got promoted it could so easily have been one of the best seasons in our history if we had wrapped up the second division title and more importantly go on to Wembley and beat Tottenham to win the FA Cup. Of course we will never know if we would have beaten Forest with 11 men and then beaten a strong Tottenham side in the final but it’s nice to think it as a possibility.

Was at the Hull game but ended up stuck against the railings in the corner of the North Bank, so didn't have the best view of Potts' only goal for us. As Swindon says, Quinn was a lot more decent for us than I remember. Another one that was underrated is old Bish, what a player he was. Looking forward to the rest of the 90-91 episodes...even if it does bring back the pain of the semi final defeat and Oldham nicking the title with the last kick of the season."

"Amidst all the doom and gloom on this site recently with football & politics etc I thought I would bump this up again with some more good memories and plenty of goals in todays episode. That memorable 7-1 win against Hull with that rare moment of Steve Potts scoring his only ever goal. Just watching the 1990/91 season episodes it did make me realise what an underrated signing Jimmy Quinn was. His goals played a part in our eventual promotion. Some really well taken goals as well. Fond memories of that period with Slater & Keen on the flanks, Quinn & Morley up top and Bish & Mad Dog in midfield."

"No one gives a toss about Macari and his (short) era is pretty much forgettable and has pretty much been forgotten, but yes his legacy was the good signings, whether or not he just got lucky or was very astute in the market - who knows."

"I really enjoyed the episodes and footage of the Macari era just because a lot of it (particularly as it was in the 2nd division) I hadn’t seen before. I remember that period well but not the goals. As you said some of Julian’s goals were fantastic and it was also nice to see Kevin Keen & Stuart Slater blossoming into first team players during that season. As I said in my original post although he was only there for 8 months and results were indifferent (Partly due to injuries and inheriting an aging team) Macari’s long term impact was big when it came to his signings. Bishop, Allen, Morley, Miklosko & even Jimmy Quinn all played big parts in helping us achieve promotion the following year."

"Have been watching, the Macari years was good but not a patch on the Lyall years. Just saying, not a dig in any way of course as it's a massive effort by Robert. The Billy Bonds years should be good. Some of the goals and raking passes by Dicksie were unbelievable, to think Cresswell has been here for 10 years and to be fair he has done well for us, but fuck me he's Sunday league compared to Julian."

"The last episode of the Lou Macari years (months) today. Obviously the betting scandal involving Macari and his former club leads to him resigning despite the board not asking him to. He was only at the club for 8 months and the club were languishing in mid table in the 2nd division but he left a lasting legacy with the signings of Martin Allen, Miklosko, Bishop & Morley who all gave great service to the club. This episode includes highlights of his last game (Along with Phil Parkes & Alan Devonshire) of that horrible night in Oldham in the semi final. Next week it’s Bonzo in the hot seat!"

This great series is back with the Lou Macari Years (Months) The players don’t like training in the afternoons which Macari introduced after saying the previous way wasn’t working. The club have no option but to accept a much lower fee for Paul Ince after he failed a medical at Man Utd and our fans won’t accept him back after he appeared in a Man Utd kit before he had even signed for them. Mad Dog finally arrives after weeks of ongoing saga with QPR and Trevor Francis and immediately makes an impact. Macca breaks his leg after a challenge from Chris Kamara on the opening day. They showed the footage (Admittedly not the best pictures) but it looked fairly innocuous. Oh and to tie into today we got thrashed at Brighton!

"He was hinting that after a bit of a break he might continue it with the Bonds & Redknapp era’s (With a bit of Lou Macari). Let’s hope so. Whatever we might think of Macari’s short reign, he did bring in Bishop, Morley, Mad Dog & Ludo."
