J-L, he got sacked from Southampton last month. He's currently unemployed. Which, worryingly, puts him on Sullivan's radar!

He's not ready to manage in the Premier League. He would make a decent #2, though.
Oh yeah. Forgot he'd been sacked already. I see that Southampton went from 2 wins in 13 with Still in charge to 6 out of 7 with their new bloke.

I imagine most Southampton fans already think that he's a number 2.

He's clearly got something about him but like others said he needs to be a number 2 or a coach in the top flight before taking a job, otherwise he'll be on the slagheap of English managers that get employed in the top spot above their station

Literally the only notable thing he's done in his career was going on a 17 match unbeaten run at Reims when he first started there. After that they were as mediocre as ever.

Last season he led Lens to their worst season in years, finishing 8th. They're currently top of Ligue 1.

If he keeps his job at Southampton I guess at least they will stop being a yo-yo team, unless it's between the Championship and League One.

Said it before, but I think the best way Still gets into the Premier League - and stays there - as a manager is by putting in some hard graft as #2 somewhere first. His personal experience at Championship Southampton shows he'd likely get swallowed up in the toughest league in the world right now. He could do with a couple of years working closely with an established PL manager. It will stand him in good stead, and he's young enough.

He'd be a decent #2 to Nuno. But the problem is that all young coaches want to be a manager quickly. Is he prepared to go somewhere, fully learn the ropes in England then step up?

Nobody wants to be the sorcerer's apprentice anymore, like Lyall was for years. But I still think there's long-term value in it. Especially with the Premier League in mind.

He's done well as a manager in France, sure. But it just isn't the same as the Premier League. It's not for the faint-hearted here. Somebody like Still could earn £10k to £15k a week as an assistant manager - more than he would get managing many continental sides - and properly understand the English game.

You've befriended a nonce.

Seen as a choice that will placate the fans if we end up in the championship rather than the best option.

Placate the fans?
The only thing that will placate the fans is David Sullivan being run over by a steam roller while Karren Brady’s Botox explodes and removes her entire head
