"Nutsin Agree totally (maybe a first and probably a last)... Trundle... ffs lets give the new manager a chance, he is miles better than Moyes on a different technical level completely. He must be an improvement on Moyes ability to manage players and bring thru youth players like Potts, Orford and Earthy.. hopefully Downes can impress tooand he will be open to playing him too. I hear people saying hes not as progressive as an Amorim type but hes still much better manager material than Moyes and would suit us for now and going forward at least short to medium term."

Fuck me I see the negative wankers are already slagging off the new boss. Unreal.

"Nagel 6:56 Mon May 6 You sound like you've been taking obtuse lessons from my wife. Amorim's record in Portugal is clearly better than Loputegui's That said, I'm not convinced he hasn't got a touch of the AVB's about him Lopetegui's appointment feels very Manuel Pellegrini"

Thank fuck we didn't get Amorim then. He finished 4th last season. In a 3 horse race! Imagine the dramas if we'd got him in.

"For the hard of thinking, that doesn't mean that Porto, Sporting and Benfica are not capable of having good sides... simply that as a competition the league is poor"

"Only once in the last 80 years has the Portuguese League not been won by one of Sporting, Benfica or Porto. As a competition, the league is poor. The best Portuguese players don't tend to hang around in that league"

No British. Onsideman has decided it doesn’t count.

If the Portuguese league is a farmers league. It's absolutely astonishing the amount of times they put our clubs out of Europe . Proper Roy of the rovers stuff . When was the last time England beat Portugal when it mattered as well. 1966 is the answer. It's shite like this why talkshite rip the arse out our fanbase. Lopetegui is a very good manager. Make no mistake about that . The issue is whos picked him .

You were the one who claimed his club record was superb you imbecile. You set the agenda. I've already explained why I don't think his record at any of those clubs was superb. Clearly you and I have very different definitions of superb

"Stop bleating? It’s a chat forum you idiot. So we are not allowed to judge him on wolves, Porto or Sevilla or the national side because it doesn’t fit you agenda. Just so I am clear, what am I allowed to judge him on?"

"Stop bleating LJC. You're allowed your opinion, I'm not the one who arrived on the scene cunting off others. You said his club record was superb. That immediately eliminates all references to the national roles whether with kids or the then grown up kids. The Wolves squad he inherited - plus the 6+ players he bought in the January window when he arrived - were in a false position pre World Cup. You only have to look at who he had at his disposal. Sevilla finished 5th, 5th, 7th 4th, 7th and 6th in the six seasons before his arrival. So much for disarray. Win percentage for Porto in a farmers league in which he won nothing isn't superb, it's par"

"onsideman 4:53 Mon May 6 Re: If David Moyes leaves West Ham who would you want to replace him? So taking a shit wolves side from bottom at Christmas to 13th, taking a Sevilla side in disarray to finish in the top four every season, winning a major European trophy on the way or never losing a game with Spain isn’t superb? Ok. I’m not allowed my opinion but you carry on. Oh what about the 84% win ratio with the Spanish youth or the 68% with Porto? Like I say not my choice but let’s atleast deal with the truth."

"To give ourselves a frame of reference, I'd probably say the 6 years younger Unai Emery's record at club level, cutting his teeth with 2 promotions with unfancied teams before winning multiple trophies, is superb"

"That ain't football talk. It's patronising twat talk. Anyway, yeah, I didn't realise that with your line about the trophy drought you actually meant an undefined period of time of specific club ownership which nobody would fucking know about. How utterly desperate you are."

"Anyway, people are getting carried away (me included). We most likely have a new manager. I have my doubts about him but, naturally, want him to do well. I hope he rips it up if he gets the job. Enjoy the back holiday…"

"If it's Lop, I'll get on board. Appears he likes defensive solidity, but aims to achieve that through starvation of the ball, and not a low block counter, which will be quite the change. And his time at Wolves doesn't appear anywhere near as shit as I seem to remember it. And he also seems to like a pair of rampaging full backs, which is something we havent really had err...ever?"

"Christ almighty - can’t believe I’m having to explain this but here goes… At the end of that sentence, Nagel, is a “qualifier”, which contextualises the words used elsewhere in the sentence. It explains, clearly, that it was the longest they’d gone without a trophy under that owner. Which is a pretty straightforward and verifiable claim. So is it meaningfully different to “the longest trophy drought in their history”? Yes - they are two very different things. One I claimed. One only you claimed I wrote. It’s not rocket science. It’s just football talk."

"In fairness to Lopetegui, Meerkat, I don’t think Wolves were prepared to free up much money for the manager when they went looking for a left back. Hence, he looked at Cress (getting on by then) as a cheap option."

"Amorim being the youngest of those mentioned would I suppose be the more dynamic modern coach , but I’m not at all sure he was genuinely interested . Looks like it’s Lopetegui now , not a revolutionary appointment, hopefully evolutionary. Let’s give the guy a chance - getting Moyes out was the priority. Can anyone shed any light on Wolves wanting Cresswell whilst Lop was there , was it he wanted him or a cheap skate board shout ? Would be concerned if it was the former."
