Make me dizzy from your kisses - Eurovision 2024

"Come on you know you'll all be watching! There are even a couple of 'theys' to tick WHO's boxes ;) We've got a belter of a song - we can't win because Croatia (at least) are just too good, but it's a great song. Slightly surprised to see Israel climbing up the odds to second favourite - it's not bad, but it's not great - and I suspect a good number of people won't vote for them (and it's on too early). There are some other corkers - Switzerland, Netherlands, Finland (ish) - even France are decent. I have genuinely forgotten the Swedish song 'Unforgettable'. Germany are trying their luck with entering oiur song from a couple of years ago. Dizzy is no Space Man, though. Anecdote - in Turin, as they were announcing the last couple of votes to see if us or Ukraine would win, I could see behind the stage that they were getting Sam Ryder's staging ready - I really thought we'd won. It wasn't quite ""There will be four minutes of added......"", but it was close. You'll all be delighted/relieved to hear that I managed to get a ticket a couple of weeks ago after refreshing the site a few times an hour every day for months. My outfit is all ready to go (just a couple of rhinestone replacements)!"

It's devastating that the UK was spurned and insulted by ALL of Europe's sexual deviants

"In five years time, Iran will win this, having challenged their exclusion in the international courts in The Hague on global equality grounds. Their winning song ""Iman no love Women (Where's My Dinner, Bitch?)"" will pile-drive to the top of the charts in every woke-friendly nation on the planet."

"Dont worry in five years time, all the entries will be AI (some with in-built Christian values, some not) and the votes will be cast by AI bots, based on complex algorithims using of the European political landscape and what is trending in Queersville this week. Abba Avatars will attend as guests of honour and dry hump the winning AI as the credits roll."

Do non-binary people oppose the proposed two-state solution to the problems between Israel and the Palestinians?

twoleftfeet 5:19 Tue May 14 Except that the winner was a non-binary person in a skirt who spent a lot of the performance gyrating on a big spinning circle.

"Just read that the EU are having a strop because the EU flag was banned from the event (because the EU didn't have a contestant, presumably). It's the Eurovision Song Contest, not the EUvision Song Contest."

We did badly for the following reasons - 1) Shit song 2) Shit performer 3) Most other countries dislike us 4) Other countries still have christian values and seeing a gay man gyrating with other scantily clad blokes isn't a vote winner.

What was the reasoning why we did so badly? a) the bloke couldn't sing b) the bloke's act was some sort of prison bathroom bender BDSM scene whilst murdering the song

Careful Trunds I think you are being groomed into this...... :-)

"Trundle - it wasn't quite as memorable, she came second last! It's a nice song that I thought would do ok. She's done some stuff in the US so I thought she had some pedigree but you couldn't even hear her, so I think that her lack of performing live might have been an issue. That said, Sam Ryder is hardly Mick Jagger and it didn't affect him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRaVGKk4k6k Don't bother watching the Final recording, it's dreadful."

Do you tell them that in all those Sohohoho bars you knock about in Branded?

Apart from war votes good songs win this in general. A good song in this competition must appeal to all the participating countries so its unlikely to be some pop rock from the 1960s.

"Thanks, OtB. It did seem strange considering there seemed quite a bit of effort to get an already established musician to perform, with decent writers for the song. Was Sam Ryder 2 years ago?! I must have been away for last years as it completely passed me by as Mae Muller doesn't ring any bells. I know far more about all this than someone who isn't at all interested by it!"

"Sam Ryder was two years ago - last year was Mae Muller with what I thought was a really decent song. Sam Ryder coming second - and only coming second because of Russia invading Ukraine - is proof that it's not all about how many gays you can get on stage and it's not about us being disliked - it's just about a good song performed brilliantly, which Space Man was. Dizzy was good but wasn't a great song for him to sing."

"What was the reasoning why we did so badly? I'd have thought he was right up their (dirt) street? He ticked quite a few boxes, compared to last year with the beardy straight bloke."

"I don't watch it. In fact I like to record it then delete it the next day so I can miss it twice. Good on those who are into it, everyone needs a hobby and a passion, preferably a harmless one."

"I'm watching it now in Australia. I already know the result. The local commentators have adopted Cyprus as the girl is from Sydney, but my favourite was Finland as a long time IT guy who remembers Windows 95."
