"Anyone have any information on the new kits? Release date, design etc. Hoping we move back to traditional white shorts, socks. Sky blue away with claret hoops - but ready to be disappointed as usual. No doubt, I'll be looking to plan my remortgage application to cover the costs of kitting out my junior hammers again. Unless I find a DHgate replica."

"That blue looks too blue, the complete opposite of the lack of blue that we've had recently."

Am I the only one who doesn't give a fuck what the shirt looks like?

Sign of times I guess but kit manufacturer badges almost being as large as club badges dont sit right with me. Look at the latest adidas ones too.

as a guide - a container out of the Far East is usually about $1k. At the moment the spot rate is back up to something like $9k. And the transit time is +2wks because they cannot use the Red Sea. You can (and Umbro do) manufacture in Turkey but the costs are much higher than the FE. As an aside - the cost of manufacture is low but as OTB pointed out the profit is then shared out between us and (mostly) Umbro. Their profit is all marketing costs. If you look at a bottle of aftershave - the actual aftershave is cheap to make but they charge you £150 because the marketing spend is huge.

"Miike - while obviously they could/would block (or demand) anything they wanted, they don't make the decisions. Russ - your point highlights why no-one will ever agree. This ""latest fucking boring, tired lump of shit"" is a fan design that the Chinese have run with. sutts07 on KUMB made the point last week that he thinks he makes great designs (he does), but he knows that plenty wouldn't like them. Faux - they cost a lot more than they used to, plus shipping is a problem now. I don't know what they cost Umbro to produce/ship but they cost the Club a lot more than you'd think. And it's not costs. I'm sure some things would get ruled out because of that as there are obviously some constraints, but really it's because Umbro/adidas/Nike et al have their own designers (and often themes) so don't need (/want) fans designing their own."

Isn't it a case of just rehashing and tweaking old designs every so often ? I haven't bought a new football shirt in twenty years but have bought and sold a lot of classic old ones from the late 90s which can fetch a pretty penny . The replicas of those old shirts produced by Score Draw are poor in terms of quality and feel horrible so the originals if in good condition very much in demand I don't go much on the new badge either so won't buy anything with it on.

The manufacturing cost of these shirts is probably about £5 And then sold for £90 or thereabouts Even if they cost £10 to make a fantastic design I am sure they would sell so many more to make up the ‘shortfall’.

"Why is it that you see supporters / amateur designers posting kits up on socials that are modern, dynamic and really emphasise what the club is all about. Then you see what the so called kit designers bring out and they are dull as fucking dishwater. Last season the all claret bubble kit was a fucking abomination. So bad it was a joke. Now we get this latest fucking boring, tired lump of shit. I have asked this question before in the pub and have been told its all to do with manufacturing costs. I was told that as good as those amateur designs are, they would have high manufacturing costs and so would eat into the suppliers profits. Makes sense. Design a kit that is just acceptable enough that they can eek out at low cost to maximise profit. But as others have said, at least this season we have white shorts and socks."

The bubbles pattern was appalling but the Umbro logo x 100 as background is beyond belief Dont actively dislike the away & 3rd but they do look like an after thought of someone trying to bang out a basic shirt Has been talk of WHITE SHORTS again . Yes please

Times like this that I miss Faux Bare. Him & his mate at Umbro always had the inside info on new kits.

The goal.com kits are nonsense - they've been available on DHgate etc for a good while though! I love that as a phenomenon - Chinese manufacturers so keen to get them selling that they scour the internet looking for ANYTHING that it might be.
