Was reading that he was the best player on the pitch when Villa beat Barcelona in the Nou Camp in the European Super Cup
Maradona sent one of the Barca staff to the Villa dressing room with his shirt to ask for Shaws shirt as a swap.
The Villa kit man told Shaw that the shirts were too expensive to hand out to opponents!

Very sad news. Was an exciting team that Villa side. Sad to hear that Gordan Cowans is suffering with Alzheimer’s as well.
Is that the boss in The Professionals?

RIP
Was a very good player in a very good team
League champions 1980/81 & European Cup winners in 1982
Think he got a bad injury (knee?) in 1983 when he was at his peak & was never quite the same
Probably a bit like A Devonshire or Ashton in that regard

It's not really an age thing though is it, you could be 12 and have a fatal fall. Sad news for all Villa fans, etc. Not sure if he was a great player, I just remember the blonde hair.
RIP.
