Saturday football

NEWCASTLE UNITED vs MANCHESTER CITY (1230)
The Geordies are doing well but, like just about every other side, not good enough to beat the champions. Simple as that. Away win.

ARSENAL vs LEICESTER CITY (1500)
Jose Mourinho would have been so proud of Arsenal’s bus parking last weekend. Mr Arteta would also have a good deal of pride in his side’s second half performance until so, so late on. Time to get things back on track. Home win.

BRENTFORD vs WEST HAM UNITED (1500)
Oh, FFS. Home win.
Image

CHELSEA vs BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION (1500)
Not much between these two. Aside from territorial advantage. Should be a decent, tight game. Home win.

EVERTON vs CRYSTAL PALACE (1500)
Well, at last Everton have opened their points account for the season, but only alphabetical order keeps them off the foot of the table. Still, avoiding defeat has probably instilled a bit of confidence in Sean Dyche’s side. Palace have been a bit disappointing and are probably better than their current position suggests. Draw.

NOTTINGHAM FOREST vs FULHAM (1500)
A key relegation candidate, but Forest sit above the impressive Fulham in the table. Two impressive tacticians meet. Draw.

WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS vs LIVERPOOL (1730)
Many would have expected a lot more from Wolves so far this campaign. Instead, they’re rooted to the bottom of the table. Gary O’Neil, you’re dancing with fire, old boy. And sorry to say there’s more fire on the way today. Away win.

*SUNDAY*

IPSWICH TOWN vs ASTON VILLA (1400)
Tough one for Ipswich, but they’ve impressed with their determination. Meanwhile, Villa are just a point off leaders Man City. Only one outcome, right? Away win.

MANCHESTER UNITED vs TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR (1630)
An underwhelming start to the season for these two mid-table sides, neither of whom should be mid-table. Both managers are under pressure and will desperately want to win this – or at least to avoid defeat. Draw.

*MONDAY*

BOURNEMOUTH vs SOUTHAMPTON (2000)
Not the most tempting of Monday evening offerings. The Saints are already in trouble, although the Cherries aren’t quite out of sight. Home win.

*CHAMPIONSHIP*
West Brom remain top and today visit lowly Sheff Wed, while second-placed Sunderland go to Watford who are fighting for a play-off place. One spot below them, Oxford host Burnley. Further down the table, Millwall who sit in 18[sup]th[/sup] place with five points from six outings take on Preston. Last night, meanwhile, an early goal put Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth on the way to dispatch Luton who have had a disappointing opening to the season.

Don’t worry we have Fullcrock.

The thing with Villa is that they’ve been coached to play well and then that’s got them results and a structure to build on. They are reaping the rewards.

we kind of sacrificed good football for points and a trophy with Moyes but we are so far behind footballing wise we might as well be starting again. We aren’t really building on anything Moyes has done. It’s a mess

was it worth it? Probably as we got the trophy and our reputation got boosted. But fuck me it’s set us back massively.

We wasted a fortune on players that didn’t play Haller, Scamacca, Ings, Vlasic etc

Duran was a no brainer, desperate to sign for us. Absolute class, we signed Fullkrug.. So West Ham

Watching Duran is painful... but I thought we had someone capable of signing the likes of him from the MLS at 18 or 19. Villa are 9th in net spend over 5 years. We're  6th. Their squad is fucking streets ahead of ours. We are a basket case

Fullkrug + the Brazilian kid = Duran with leftover millions

That sort of thing happens to loads of clubs mate.

But just frustrating as we apparently ‘won the transfer window’.

I think this transfer window might go down as one of the world’s biggest fluffs in football transfer history.
Duran is a fucking monster. He’ll be at Madrid or City in a few years. And we dicked about for a few mil. Only West Ham could do that..

I see the Fernandes red card has been overturned
He slipped but my view was that instead of pulling out he made a second movement & tackled Maddison close to his knee.
Surprised … but not surprised

Just had a look at Lucy Pinder, she's a munter.

That Semenyo has always impressed when I have seen him against us. He will be at a bigger club soon enough

Downes and Cornet both very poor.

I guess Russell Martin will get the sack but will be going home to Lucy Pinder. Lucky fucker.

I was hoping we'd get Andoni in as manager. He's turned Bournemouth into a decent side. A real pleasure watching them trounce Saints tonight.

Disagree - always like to see London Clubs do well. Well done Spurs!

Well it won't easy on Saturday going by Ipswich's performance, was a cracking game of football too. Phillips looked OK too.

Watching this with Portuguese commentary - actually it is sort of entertaining.

Cunts!

Mancs have some of the same issues we have in midfield with lack of pace and movement as Spurs knock it around them and now made worse by having only 10 men of course.

look disjointed and off the pace as we have done so far this season.

Loppy will be pleased that Ten Fags is taking the attention off him this week

The BBC just did a straw pole on who wants Moyes back in charge of Man U,

For - 4180
Against - 1987

Man Utd were getting battered 11 vs 11. Now Bruno Fernandes has been sent off, I can’t see it getting any better for them
