Vexed, I think Fullkrug is similar to Ings in that he is old, slow and expensive and not really what we need.

But not quite, he was used as a wide Forward instead whilst Gerrard preferred to preserve with Ings up top. It was really Emery that converted him in to an out and out Striker long term whilst deciding to offload an ageing Ings to us.

Emery, the one that got away and the one I was shouting from the rooftops for us to go after around that time too. Alas we chose to stick with the Gutless One.

Wasn't Watkins failing at Villa and out of the team before Emery arrived.. Just goes to show what a decent coach can do with a so called bad striker.

All I'd say to that is Scamacca and Haller were more than good enough for us, it was a failure by the manager to get the best out of them/us as a Team.

When we do actually get it right in the Striker market, we still fail miserably.

Fullkrug doe’s seem a strange signing considering we already had a similar type of player in Ings. ie one that is in the same age bracket, not speedy or suitable to our “style” .

I too called out this signing as ridiculous at the time. It seemed like nothing more than a panic buy as Sillivan dithered and refused to fork out the money for Duran, so they desperately turned their attention to this bloke on the back of scoring a couple of goals in the Euros.

Borussia Dortmund must have been laughing all the way to the bank to flog this fella for such a profit after one season.

Yet again, the club is a total laughing stock thanks to Sillivan, 'guru Tim' and 'loser Lop's' summer antics.

No it don't. And that was the other issue I had with it, I'm all for allowing players time to acclimatise, but when you're knocking on at 31/32 in his 1st season, he doesn't have much time to do that without producing it soon after. No matter any way I looked at it, I couldn't see much logic to paying what we did and compounding it further with a long 4 year contract on big money. And the Club thought Duran would be an expensive gamble......

Fullkrug when fit will have to soon produce the goods once back if he's to justify what we've spent now, otherwise it'll be one of the worst signings of the season we're lumbered with. Big pressure to succeeed now.

Nobody knows if he has what it takes to be effective in our league. Looked like it was going to take him a fair while to acclimatise, now will have to do so after coming back from an injury too and at the age of nearly 32... Doesn't look good...

Yep, like you I raised big concerns in the summer about dropping close to £30M plus his £10M+ 4 year contract we're stuck with should he fail to live up to big expectations. A big gamble I just couldn't see much value in going for, especially as I knew he had a suspect injury record before arriving.

When he eventually comes back, he's going to have to hit the ground running and start producing to justify the outlay, otherwise it's a total fuck up.

He does have the ability, it's just whether he can stay fit long enough and transfer it into a demanding Premeir League which is the worry.
