Anyone making it over to Cheltenham tomorrow? Looks like there are about 20 of us at the moment.

It is a worry how few of our youths make the grade. I don't have any scientific evidence but it does feel as if other teams perform better in that metric. Most weeks we don't have a single academy player in the squad

Manuel - I was talking in the context of what I saw in the game. I didn’t mean he always lacks the final ball.
In the second half, he did brilliantly for our goal. He powered through midfield, played Scarles in down the left wing, who put in an excellent cross ball for an easy tap in for Swyer.
I agree that apart from Orford and Scarles, the rest didn’t look up to much. The goalie looks decent, but not amazing. The Brazilian defender has much improved, but nowhere near the first team. I wasn’t impressed with Casey, unfortunately.
Orford and Scarles really need to step up their performances and start to dominate for the U21s. We’ve also got several out on loan, but they are very much a work in progress. It would be really disappointing if at least one didn’t make it at the highest level, after showing so much promise two seasons ago.

I caught the last 10 minutes. Orford has been our stand out. Just lacking the final ball.
'Just' lacking the final ball? Oh that's OK then, no biggie

Didn’t see anyone who really stood out, obviously Orford & Scarles look the stand outs within the team, but in terms of making it, I’m not sure. Orford glides but he was positioned in a way that he didn’t ever seem to dictate, he reminded me a little
of Carrick but playing further forward. Scarles reminded me of a Gareth Bale type and was difficult to see where his best position would be - looked good on front foot but didn’t have the natural urge to be involved high up the pitch. There was no one else out there who looked anywhere near even league 2 level.

1-0 to Cheltenham at half time. It’s on Sky Sports if anyone is interested.

Airs and Graces is the nearest pub. Not sure they will bother opening the bar in the ground.

We are in block 7. Looks like home fans are in the usual away end.

Thinking of popping over with my boys, only half the ground open though and no segregation - where you planning on being? Terrace behind the goal? I think it’s only a score for a hosptitality ticket, but I don’t think my 8 year old would enjoy that too much
