Unless I'm missing something, this hasn't been mentioned on the board yet? Or I've just popped online at a coincidental time to see the announcement.

RIP to the big man, having started going in around 90/91 season, seeing him waddle across the pitch to take the picture of the captains seemed as normal as having a stand called the chicken run.

A small part of me has disappeared with him.

There's only ever going to be one stevie bacon. The only photographer i've ever heard serenaded by west ham - or any other football fans.

RIP stevie bacon west ham legend. One of my earliest memories is of the chicken run singing his name as he waddled around the pitch.

RIP Steve.

Just a small chunk of his work would make an incredible gallery.

David Leung, great memory.  My dad was very good friends with David, what a top bloke.  Nobody knew as much about cameras as him.

When my dad did his national service in Hong Kong, he served in the same area David came from.  We lived round the corner from his shop and were always in there.

Yes, RIP Steve Bacon. A huge part of West Ham's history, both himself and the pictures he has left behind.

Blimey that was sudden

He only posted on Facebook last week saying the nurse had been to give him his flu and covid jabs.

RIP to a top fella

Hammers in focus will get a dust off over the weekend.

Call him legend or something else, but there can be hardly one person on here who hasn't, at the very least, seen him and followed his work over decades. Same applies for dozens and dozens of WHU players. That makes him part of the West Ham folklore.

RIP Steve, surely there can’t be another football photographer in the entire world that used to get a whole stand chanting his name as he waddled past. Very endearing bloke from my perspective as a teenager in the stands.

I used to bump into him at David Leung’s camera shop in Goodmayes & Peter Hampshires processing lab in Manor Park. A true professional & pure West Ham. RIP Stevie.

Got to get the chant going today.

Very sad news
The man was one of the characters that made the club
You would hope his passing would be commemorated on the screens today & we can hear ‘One Stevie Bacon’ one last time from the crowd
