We have Summerville who is much better, just need someone who can manage him.

No thanks. He always flattered to deceive for me with too many oversteps and blind alleys only to give the ball away cheaply at the end.

Bennys conversion rate is terrible. That’s the main problem with him. In the PL you don’t get as many opportunities so you kind of have to hit the target when you do. Bennys shots were all over the place. I think in championship he had more time to get shots off and so his ratio was better.

bowen and especially kudus have way higher conversion rates.

Also agree. He would usually do this by putting them on the left wing without using an effective wing play system, rendering them redundant.

If he would look stupid putting that individual at left wing because it was clear they couldn’t do it, like a stay-back defender, he’d simply leave them out or start them in games we were set up to lose so that the stats justified later omission from the team.

When he did play, the tactics also really hung him out to dry. Always left isolated against 1-2 defenders with no support and every time having to try and beat those men solo, play a risky pass to find someone, try a wonder shot or just pass it back. When players were around him- especially Paqueta- he looked far better. I think he only played so much that one season because Paqueta liked playing with him.

Bowen succeeded in the similar role on the other flank because he has the pace to go past people. Benny just doesn’t so all he had was to try and dribble round them which is always high risk.
Did the same shit with Fornals. He was the master of sucking quality out of a decent player and would ignore them for games on end on the bench.
Completely agree. Make them play in a way that wasn’t conducive to their skill set and then scapegoat them if it went wrong.

It's tough though, Archie Gray was rated higher than Jimmy at Leeds and he's hardly getting a kick for Tottenham.
I was really impressed with him against Everton (as I was vs Man Utd recently too). He showed a lot of tidy footwork, pace in a attack but was just as equally impressed with his pace and determination to run almost the length of the pitch to put in a successful last ditch lunge in our own box and getting up quickly again to put off the strike on goal. It was initially Wan-Bissakas fuck up too and yet he ran past him and everyone else to mop up his dirty work demonstrating a great team ethic.

That kind of play and attitude really impresses me and he almost put the icing on the cake had his decent shot gone in off the upright near the end.

He carries on the way he is now, then I can see him remaining a permanent fixture in the side. Keep it up, Jimmy...
He stood out in those games because the others were fucking terrible. He is talented for sure, but a top player? I think time will tell.

The fact that I genuinely thought this was about Benayoun shows how much of a positive impression Benrahma made on me. It also shows what an out of touch twat I can be. Just thought I'd get that in before Manuel did it for me.

I watched Lyon absolutely destroy rangers in the EL this season. Some good players in that team.

Is he better than Summerville though? Aint much in it for me. I'll always appreciate his class in the face of hugely cunty treatment from that prick Moyes  and him smashing that ice cool pen in the final.
Summerville has yet to really emerge as good enough, either way, for me, but he has way more pace than Benrahma which is crucial in this league.

Always happy to give people a little time.

Would it also make a difference if they still owe us money for the original transfer and he comes back because of that maybe?

Could be a cheap option in January when Kudus fucks off. Played in his favoured position we could do worse, And we probably will with the dwarf pulling the strings.

Made to be a skilled player in a slightly lower league (the one he's in and the Championship) but is lightweight and not incredibly fast - without pushing his skills to world class in order to overcome that in the Premier League.

Seems a decent guy.

You get about 5 or 6 goals and the same number of assists out of him per season.

its ok but was never quite good enough.

I remember a preseason friendly against Celtic where he went through 1on1, dummies the keeper and covering defender and rolls it into the empty net. Shame it was a friendly.

Simply not good enough
the fact that we paid a similar amount for him in the same window as Villa did for Watkins tells you all you need to know about the state of our recruitment

Benrahma managed to look half decent in a highly defensive set-up and often overlooked by being kept on the bench for long periods. Imagine how good he'd be if managed right in an attacking Team that worked...

Also see Fornals and Scamacca.

Outrageously talented player but he never quite managed to make himself a top player.
