Saturday football

EVERTON vs LIVERPOOL (1230)
The Toffees may have squeezed themselves out of the bottom three, for now, but the league leaders and their lovely neighbours have too much to keep them out of trouble. Away win.

ASTON VILLA vs SOUTHAMPTON (1500)
A couple of months ago, Villa were top of the table. Now they’re in eighth, one place below Forest. Things change. The Saints should give them a decent opportunity to return to the Champions League places. Home win.

BRENTFORD vs NEWCASTLE UNITED (1500)
Two sides that have experienced changing fortunes of late. An impressive draw against Liverpool on Wednesday should have given the Magpies a boost as they head to west London. Away win.

CRYSTAL PALACE vs MANCHESTER CITY (1500)
City have returned to winning ways at last and should back that up with a visit to another side that has two wins from their last six. Away win.

MANCHESTER UNITED vs NOTTINGHAM FOREST (1730)
The Red Devils have made a highly encouraging start under their new boss. Despite a midweek turnaround against Arsenal, they should manage another three points against a side that sits six places above them. Home win.

SUNDAY

FULHAM vs ARSENAL (1400)
Fulham are still in with a shout for a Champions Lague place, but Arsenal with three wins on the trot are likely to prove too strong today. Away win.

IPSWICH TOWN vs BOURNEMOUTH (1400)
The Cherries have been impressive this season and are likely to prove too strong for the struggling Tractor Boys. Away win.

LEICESTER CITY vs BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION (1400)
Having demolished us a few days ago, Leicester will be bouncing under Ruud van Nistelrooy as the host high-flying Brighton. Draw.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs CHELSEA (1630)
Chelsea have quietly climbed up the standings and go into the weekend in second place. They’re unlikely to still be there by the time the whistle goes to start this one at Spurs, but don’t bet against them. Away win.

MONDAY

WEST HAM UNITED vs WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS (2000)
Lop’s still in the hot seat, although many thought he’d be gone by the time he faces his old side this evening. So a point to prove for the Spaniard? You can say that again. It’s more than one point we could do with tonight. The foot of the table is getting disconcertingly close. Home win.Image

EVE v LIV
AST v SOU
BRE v NEW
CRY v MCY
MNU v NFO

FUL v ARS
IPS v BOU
LEI v BHA
TOT v CHE

WHU v WOL

CHAMPIONSHIP

Once again, the Championship is deserving of at least half of one of your eyes, as both top and bottom are gearing up for a long and compelling battle. At the top, Sheffield U remain in pole position with second-placed Burnley missing the chance to overtake them having only managed a draw against Middlesboro last night. Ambitious Burnley are a place behind while Leeds and Sunderland are snapping menacingly at their posteriors. Leeds have the opportunity to follow suit at home to Derby in today’s early kick-off, and Sunderland can do the same to Stoke also at lunchtime. Millwall, 10th, will mourn former manager John Docherty as they host Coventry in 16th. At the less desirable end of things, Hull, QPR and Pompey go into the weekend occupying the bottom three places and take on Blackburn (8th), Norwich (9th) and Bristol C (11th) respectively. Cardiff have appointed Omer Riza as interim boss until the end of the season. You may recall that Riza was on our books at the turn of the century, although without making a senior appearance.

Fixture news -- the games at Cardiff (H Watford) and Plymouth (H Oxford) are postponed, as are all Saturday's football and rugby games in Wales, due to a storm. Watch out, boyo.

Sure, i read or heard somewhere that we have only lost 1 Monday night game in the last 10? Arsenal on Boxing Day, so I'm not sure im against all these Monday night games😁

Hopefully i haven't gone and jinxed it though...................😆

It's certainly very annoying, although the B'mouth game wasn't originally on a Monday but got moved, cup commitments or something. Tbf, over the last 3-4 years with being in Europe etc we hardly had any Monday games.

I love Ally McCoist. Someone I’d have a beer with.

I preferred why sky let you turn the commentary off and all you heard was the crowd and you could watch from behind the goal.

Really brave subs from Postecoglu. Spurs will go on to win now.
They were arsehole lucky to get the draw.

It’s a good game. I’m sure enjoying it immensely!

To think some on here (Miike) would “take Postecoglu in a heartbeat”.

Says it all about their footballing knowledge.

Took their time but they finally get it now. Fucking brilliant stuff.

P.S. Was that you Ladyboy who text Talksport that? Because you've been awfully quiet since the result last night...
Erh, we are not your mates. You are posting now just for the sake of posting. This is not Facebook, pal. Calm yourself down a tad.

Yep. Ibrox will be absolutely rocking. Rangers have been in 3rd place behind Aberdeen for a while, although Rangers haven't lost in their last 5 matches by looks of it.

They aint got a pot to piss in really. They have no right to get a result against the mega millions of Spurs but the footballing stars to appear to be aligning for an almighty upset. 🤞

Weirdly on the Sunday afternoon Spurs game the backwards Scottish have their League Cup Final and yep you guessed it, Celtic v Rangers. No way Rangers go full throttle against Spurs with all their best players. Postecoglus jammy in that regard.

Couldn't happen to a nicer delusions of grandeur Club.

Probably the worst fixture to come next for him is up at Ibrox with all his former Scottish baggage. It's going to be hell for him. And then the next League game last on next Sunday is Southampton Away where I could see them nicking a result against Spurs who are devoid of confidence and now have an injury pile up to contend with too.

He's fucked and I fucking love seeing it after all their soppy, cringey unfounded love-in last season. Proper fraud who at best can only win 2bob Cups.

Never forget....

🤣

Conte and Mourinho were always right about them.
Writing is on the wall for sure, but fwiw I think he might get a bit more slack than the likes of Conte/Mourinho. They have had so many managers now that the finger is beginning to be pointed towards Levy. As with Man Utd, keep replacing the manager doesn't seem to be the answer.

That will be some atmosphere midweek, wouldn't mind viewing that one.

Yea maybe the Yank does know what he's doing after all, all those top young players they have there now, pretty frightening really.

As for big Ange, I don't think he's close to the bullet just yet and they have some very winnable games coming up. They can forget top 4 though.

Shame we had no one football aware enough to spot Maresca's potential when he was Pellegrini's number 2 and masterminded a uniquely professional performance against Chelsea that year

That Maresca looks a bit special. As of course does Palmer. Marescas reading of the game is generally spot on though. Jammy west London tossers get another quality manager but like you say, the unlimited funds to achieve it..

Hopefully he squares up to Ladyboy next.

It's happened again.. 😙🎶

Everytime they play they are so predictably wide open, even when they went 2-0 up i was very confident they'd fuck it up with Fat Ange's suicide kamikaze tactics.

Take the sting out of the game and sit on a nice 2-0 lead at home for a bit, but no naively/arrogantly plough on to try and score another 50 goals. The silly cunts were risking 2 injured Centre Halves as it was, yet that doesn't matter, just go hell for leather. Thick as shit and deserves what they get. 😂

P45 for Imposternoclue..
