West Ham Online

Hi there.
Thanks for taking the time to respond to my question.  I am a Liverpool supporter never having seen them play in person.  I have lived in Brazil all of life and inherited my support from my dad who moved to Brazil before I was born.  I am visiting London in December and have managed to get what was probably the last remaining seat available on-line for the match on Dec 29.  This will be in the away supporters section (although I would have gone for home fans ticket if that  had been available).  So, my question is: will I be okay?  My dad tells me horror stories from his time in the 1980s of agression towards away fans (some of it probably deserved for acts of goading etc). He said that for away matches, the entire cohort of fans were escorted to and from the railway station by police on horses. I assume this is not the case in this day but should I be on my guard?  Can I wear a Liverpool shirt under my coat or would that be asking for trouble?  I should add that I am Fluminense support here in Rio and regularly attend Maracana with all the inherent fan conflict issues (rivalry on steroids!), so I am not a timid risk-averse personality and know how to keep safe.  Thank for any tips or points to note.

Don't believe this is genuine. Surely a genuine supporter would have gone on a Liverpool site and got advice there from travelling fans. Certainly wouldn't have come back to basically say 'haha we thrashed you'

I agree Kelleher has looked very assured. I would take him in the summer.

Try and mingle in with fellow Liverpool supporters in town on their way to the ground - Euston, St Pancras or Liverpool Street are all equally good bets as starting points.

If you get the chance to strike up a conversation with them and identify yourself as a visiting Liverpool fan, I'm sure they'll help you out (as well as helping themselves to anything that is not attached to your body with 6" nails).

The 1970s/80s were rough (or fun depending on your point of view) but it's nothing like that now. Somebody here said 'Don't be a dick' and that's about as good as advice as you'll get. Don't taunt, give wanker signs and mouth off, and have a bit of class if you're 8-0 up (though we'll have left by then anyway). Fans mixing on the train is now commonplace. Enjoy London - the City is magical at Christmas - and enjoy the game. The way we're playing at the moment you'll almost certainly have a good memory of it. 

Yeah, don't make the mistake by doing what some lary Gooners did recently and give it the biggun if you manage to stumble in to the wrong part of the Stadium. Other than that, enjoy ya day out watching us win 10-0!
