Saturday football

ASTON VILLA vs MANCHESTER CITY (1230)
Defeat at Forest put pay to Villa’s slight resurgence. Will that be enough to propel them to victory over the current champions who have managed just one win in their last six league games? Hmm… Draw.

BRENTFORD vs NOTTINGHAM FOREST (1500)
Brentford are good at home. They’ve not once lost in the whatsitcalled Community Stadium – think of it as the Heathrow area – this season. Forest will visit hoping to climb, briefly, into third sport if they manage t take maximum points. Home win.

IPSWICH TOWN vs NEWCASTLE UNITED (1500)
It’s possible that the Barcodes, in 12th, have seen a corner turn in their fortunes. It’s also possible that they haven’t. Ipswich, meanwhile, remain a leading contender for the drop. Things are looking tough for the Tractor Boys. Away win.

WEST HAM UNITED vs BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION (1500)
Our record against Brighton is less than outstanding. But for now, both sides go into this with two wins, two draws and two defeats in their last six. The trouble is that the Seagulls have five more points than us. We have to start adding a few more points to our tally if things are not to become uncomfortable. Looks like a tight game ahead. Draw.Image

CRYSTAL PALACE vs ARSENAL (1730)
Things look to picking up for Palace, but less so for Arsenal. Nonetheless, Arsenal are a stronger outfit and should take all points from this with ease. Away win.

SUNDAY

EVERTON vs CHELSEA (1400)
Chelsea could lead the Premier League when the final whistle blows at Goodison this afternoon. And Everton could easily end the day back in the bottom three. Chelsea are strong and have form on their side. Away win.

FULHAM vs SOUTHAMPTON (1400)
Having got the better of sort-of neighbours Brighton last week, Fulham are on a roll. Southampton, too, are on a roll, just not the kind of roll that anyone wants. Still, can they benefit from new manager bounce? No. Home win.

LEICESTER CITY vs WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS (1400)
Another two sides with new occupants of the boss’s seat. Fans of both will be asking themselves how long they will remain seated there. This will be a test for both, and a significant six-pointer. Draw.

MANCHESTER UNITED vs BOURNEMOUTH (1400)
Man U are another bunch of inconsistent so-and-sos. They’re one place above us and five above the drop zone. Yet there’s a ring of hope around that club. Bournemouth, meanwhile are in sixth. I remember watching them eek out a 1-1 draw with Barnet not so long ago. Funny how things change, innit? Home win.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs LIVERPOOL (1630)
The final Premier League fixture before Christmas gives Spurs an opportunity to help knock Liverpool from the summit. Can they do it? Who knows. Draw.

AVL v MCY
BRE v NFO
IPS v NEW
WHU v BHA
CRY v ARS

EVE v CHE
FUL v SOU
LEI v WOL
MNU v BOU
TOT v LIV

Happy Christmas to everyone. Be happy.

The Man City team visited an orphanage in Manchester today. "It's heartbreaking to see their sad little faces with no hope," said Ben, age seven.

Kulu has caught the Spurs bug, he won't be going anywhere.

What amuses / bemuses me about the Man U fans in the media and elsewhere (of course working in a London office I know Surrey & E London based fans) is the expectation that a return to the good old days is inevitable at some point.
As mentioned they will have the burden of building a stadium with an overpaid underachieving squad with little chance of attracting top talent ahead of several clubs.
How many of their current squad would you see playing in a Premier league winning team?

Sometimes you have to respect the point. It could be far worse.

It does put our draw in perspective. Well done Bournemouth and well done us for equalling them.

Iraola spent well over £100M on the Team so they should be up to scratch but he's certainly got them well drilled after all this time. They cause anyone a lot of trouble in the League, bar none home or away.

I was impressed with Bournemouth even though I thought they were beatable. They have a great CB partnership, and that front three is very dangerous

That a real shame about Spurs.! Anyhow. As for Amorim and ManU. That entire squad needs the best part of a billion spent on it. To even be competitive at the top end of the league. Then there’s the talk about doing the stadium up. Sir Jim ain’t getting change out of £3 billion to do both.? This is the first time since 89 that ManU have spent Christmas out  of the top half. That ship is sinking. And it going too take a lot more than a new coach and system to keep it afloat.

Early days i know but for once Sullivan may have got this one right, bullet dodged????
What is it with fans writing managers off as soon as they rock up to a new Club, especially one's with so much shit to sort out?

I'd have Amorim here in a heartbeat but then I wanted him before that twat Sullivan turned up the chance to get him in.
Writing managers off! What like a good portion of WHU fans have with Lopi? and let's be honest he had quite a bit to sort out, if anything given the squad at OT i think they are in a better position than us? but yes i wasn't keen on Lopi and would like him replaced, but not really my point???

I would of had Amorim as well TBH, but you reckon what he's doling at ManU since taking over has been an improvement in any way? Yes he has stuff to sort out, just like any manager coming in but their form is now worse than when ETH was in charge!

And i did say early days for him as well, not like im calling him fully out as "a fraud" but it does beg him being questioned as to what the fuck is going on, im sure if he had come to us, our fans would be doing just that had we had similar results..............................

Tongue in cheek and current popular phrase of the day TBH, well that's how i see it, bearded fraud, Bald fraud (ETH), Spanish fraud etc etc.

Fans just taking the piss and having a laugh when results are bad., take the blinkers off son 🤣

How much in talent do ManU have already and given that and how much has been spent on those players, it could be argued why isn't he getting a tune out of them? But if anything, things looking worse than when ETH was in charge.

So he goes and scores a second. So I’ll take that back. Always nice to see Spurs take a beating even if it is against Liverpool.

Ange Imposter or whatever he’s called doing the high line thing that Lop was employing for the first 12 or so games. Suicidal against teams like Liverpool who have so much pace and strength in the middle and up top.

Liverpool could score a few more ( hopefully)
