10 Dead so far many more injured.
Apparently the culprit crossed the U S border through Eagle pass Texas a couple of days ago.
He then decided to drive his Truck into a crowd of people celebrating the New Year.
What a world we live in.

Anyone who lived in the UK through the IRA campaign(s) of the late 70s/early 80s will have had their lives impacted to some degree by those events.
No Zoltan/Brownie points for raising those events here (or anywhere else) Certainly no such points for claiming that you were considerably more affected than others.

Literally nobody downplays the threat of terrorism by promoting a rational civil response to it. However, those who attack them are often actually social cases who, probably quite on purpose like in the case of Trump, find it politically expedient to promote terrorism by creating the conditions in which it flourishes.

Yes, it was a stressful time and we all react to stress in different ways. But did you feel the need to very loudly demonstrate your outrage, accuse all Irish people of being terrorists and violently attack anyone who suggested histrionics of this kind was exactly the effect the terrorists we’re trying to achieve? Nobody I knew did that. What about you?
I was 9 years old and it had a massive impact on many people in the Midlands - there was a massive Irish population in Brum and the trust was lost for many years - including a huge backlash that resulted in violence and retaliations to business being firebombed and attacks on Irish communities. I admit that I had a mistrust of any Irish people that I encountered for years afterwards... so yes it went on but I was too young - but it was a very scary time.
