Good for the short term but imo should not be in the starting 11 if we are to progress. Same as Soucek, good squad options.
Well that goes without saying doesn't it and has been said many times before. But currently he is better than Soler and Rodders, mind you I'm a better player than Rodders. Worst 'midfielder' since Kovac.
Almost 200 games for the club, over 30 goals from midfield and a key player in one the clubs best periods in the top division.
But yeh he’s the worst since Kovac.

I'm talking about Rodriguez.

Good for the short term but imo should not be in the starting 11 if we are to progress. Same as Soucek, good squad options. If decent offers come in for these 2 30 year olds we should accept them. Then again if our valuations are met on Paqueta, Irvine, Mavro, Emerson, Aguerd, Rodruiguez we should look to offload them. Kudus if we got anywhere near £80 mill offered is another that imo is dispensable. Factor in the end of contracts for Ings, Fab, Antonio, Zouma and we have the potential for another high turnover of players this summer. Obviously the ones with contracts wont all go but the trajectory has to be towards youth and athleticism. Thats what the Premiership now demands as fast transitions and relentless pressing has superseded Pep’s “tikki taka” as the most effective tactic.

Since his return, I think he has added value.
Like the old adage, it's almost like a new signing.

I'm glad he's back and replaced Rodriguez. Neat and tidy but didn't create anything. He set pieces were poor, no assist since Feb 3 2024. That's terrible for an assist king. Not in the starting xi when all fit unless he replaces Alvarez.

Was very tidy, nothing outstanding but nothing poor either. Bit like the whole team, none of them had to do too much and none of them did. Very odd game.
It was. I think our players were surprised how easy Leicester made it for them. Embarrassing from Leicester.
JWP was solid and tidy. But then, no disrespect, I reckon I could've held my own out there for a while......

What he lacks a bit in open play creativity, he makes up for in keeping it simple, knowing where to be to receive a pass, keeping momentum with quick simple passes, not constantly over elaborating or showboating, giving the ball away in dangerous areas then pretending to have been fouled and laying on the the floor feigning injury while the opposition are given a chance to attack our goal.
Overall very refreshing to see him back.

Had another good game. As alluded to by most he deserved a clean slate under a new gaffer to show what he could bring.

I'd say one of the best I've seen him play for us. Some credit to Potter as well.

Thought he was good tonight. Very busy in midfield. Snapping at players winning the ball back and moving it around well. Good to have him back. Don’t really understand why lop fucked him off. Clearly a good team man and popular with the squad.

He is fit as a fiddle and a good technical footballer. He’s very good at connecting things, and ticking things over. Similar to how Noble used to. It’s not glamorous and people often overlook the value of that type of player, but he was always going to improve our midfield.

Yes solid in the centre with Alvarez and Soucek either side. Worked well. Seemed more positive with forward passing than I remember him. Hope we see a set peice goal from him sometime.

I am trusting Potter to decide if there is a player left in there or not but luckily, Potter is not just going by stats and 45 minutes of football. If he was he'd see that JWP got 7 goals and 7 assists last season for West Ham which is a decent return.
His form definitely suffered in the second half of last season but so did the whole team, we were absolutely shocking. He then gets dumped by Jlo for whatever reason and joins a Forrest team who are absolutely flying but now he's back I'm confident he has something to offer us.
As I've said before, I would have given all of the players a fresh start and I expect Potter has done that.

That is true. 100%
he hasn't had an assist in over a year, what part don't you get ?
Commentators get it wrong too.
They call him "Mr ASSIST".
His corners have been dreaful.
I wasn't signalling him out jsut saying he;s not the Messiah and not going to getting moving the ball much quicker.
Taht being said I'd rather have him in there instead of Soucek or Soler or Alvarez.
You are spouting utter garbage.
