Inter Milan eyeing Jean-Clair Todibo move

Simone Inzaghi’s Inter Milan are plotting a raid on West Ham United for their defensive sensation Jean-Clair Todibo.

Inter Milan are all set to undergo massive changes ahead of next season. They will look to freshen things up by signing younger stars, which will ultimately help them lower their wage bill. Reinforcing their backline is going to be one of their priorities, and they have found someone who could end up being a perfect fit in Simone Inzaghi’s system.

According to a report from InterLive, Inter are looking to make a move for Jean-Clair Todibo, who hasn’t really had the best of times since moving to the Premier League. They could look to sign him on loan with an option to make the move permanent.

After failing to impress at Barcelona, Todibo made a name for himself with his consistent performances for OGC Nice. His consistent performances had put him on the wishlist of quite a few top clubs from across Europe. West Ham eventually won the race and signed him last summer.

While it is a loan deal, there is an obligation to buy, which depends on certain conditions. The Hammers certainly had high expectations from the 25-year-old, but things haven’t really gone according to plan. He has been involved in just 19 games, and only 12 of those have been starts.
Inter plot a move for Todibo

Todibo has struggled with consistency, and if his form at West Ham continues on its current trajectory, Inter could seize the opportunity to sign him. They seek more quality at the back and consider him an ideal fit for their back-three setup.

He could end up being the perfect long-term replacement for Francesco Acerbi. Inter could look to sign him on loan next summer with an option to make the move permanent, depending on how he adjusts to life in Milan. The 25-year-old was on the radar of Juventus last summer.

While the Bianconeri made an attempt, they ultimately failed to sign him from Nice and instead brought in Pierre Kalulu. Juventus might not have succeeded in bringing him to the Serie A, but Inter could still make it happen in the upcoming transfer window.

West Ham showing ‘serious interest’ in 18 G/A attacker – €50m isn’t ‘unreasonable’

By Naveen Ullal

Earlier this month, we covered claims from Germany that West Ham United have included 1. FSV Mainz 05’s Jonathan Burkardt in their target list for the summer window.

It was also reported Mainz 05 are looking for a club-record fee to sell him. The current record is held by Brajan Gruda, who was sold for €31.5m to Brighton & Hove Albion last summer.

A fresh report from Bild claims West Ham are one of the clubs in the picture to sign the striker.

The 24-year-old graduated from Mainz 05’s academy and was promoted to the first team in 2018. He starred this season, managing 15 goals and three assists from 21 games in all competitions.

Burkardt’s impressive performances for the Bundesliga club have helped him make debut for Germany last October. It has also drawn the attention of other clubs, including West Ham.

Bild state there’s been ‘serious interest’ from Eintracht Frankfurt, West Ham and AC Milan so far. As well as the trio, more clubs in Germany and abroad could be looking at the frontman.

Taking his form into account, the report claims even €50m ‘doesn’t seem unreasonable’ to secure his services. This may be high considering his contract lasts until 2027 and he’s currently valued at €25m by Transfermarkt.

The German has scored 14 league goals so far and can surpass Shinji Okazaki and André Schürrle’s 15 league goals in a season for Mainz 05.

West Ham looking to sign Bologna forward Santiago Castro in the summer

West Ham signed Evan Ferguson from loan on Brighton & Hove Albion as Graham Potter hoped to get the best out of the Irishman for a second time having already worked with him at the Amex Stadium. His lacklustre season has continued, however, with almost no impact on things at the London Stadium, thereby reducing chances of a permanent swoop in the summer.

A striker is expected to be on top of the club’s priority nevertheless ahead of next season and according to Italian source FC Inter News, West Ham are keen on landing Bologna marksman Santiago Castro. The Hammers are confident about scuppering Inter Milan’s potential deal for the Argentine youngster, who has scored nine goals and provided eight assists this season.

Thanks to his immaculate form in the final third, Castro has emerged as one of Serie A’s breakthrough players of the year although amid interest from bigger clubs, Bologna may be resigned to losing him sooner rather than later. The source adds that the Italians will look for approximately £25 million to part with their prized asset at the end of the ongoing campaign.

West Ham can offer Castro a better role than Inter Milan

Inter Milan are one of the world’s most exciting and underrated teams. They have become a force to be reckoned with under Simone Inzaghi and remain an attractive destination for most players. It is debatable, however, that Santiago Castro will be appealed by the prospect of heading to the Giuseppe Meazza at such an early stage of his career.

He would face serious competition for minutes from the likes of Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram, whereas the experienced Mehdi Taremi is also a superb option off the bench for the Nerazzurri. The last thing he would want after a productive season is for his prominence to reduce next year, while Bologna also may not be keen on selling to a local rival.

West Ham will hold the advantage in that sense as Castro would be handed a starting berth mostly from the word go. Graham Potter has also excelled at developing younger players in the past, which will be viewed favourably by the player. A £25 million price is also not too expensive for the Hammers, who will fancy their chances of landing the South American in the summer.
